Q. What are the capabilities of my account?

We created this tool to make it really easy for you to understand the capabilities of your account and sites. It's important to note that all existing store owners have been automatically grandfathered with unlimited products and no transaction fees.

Q: How can I add products to my store?

There are 2 ways to add products to your store -- either by dragging on a product element or in the new Store tab under Products. When adding a product element, you now have the choice between connecting to an existing product or adding a new one.

Q. What is a Store page and why should I have one?

A Store page is your store homepage and it automatically organizes all your products and categories. Go to Pages > Add Page to add a Store page to your site. Click here for more details.

Q. Why do my products look different now?

We've improved the design of your product elements to help them better match the look and feel of your site. Under Design > Change Fonts, you'll see new options to customize your product elements. If you don't like the new look, just enable legacy mode under Store > Settings > Display.

Q: How do I manage my existing store in the new store design?

Weebly has a new "Store" tab to help you manage all aspects of your store, including adding and editing products. If you already have products, they will automatically appear. Here you can track your sales, see your order details, and adjust other settings like tax and shipping, if you wish. We’ve written a short guide to help you adjust to this new setup.

Q: When do you charge a 3% transaction fee?

If you are an existing store owner, we will never charge you a transaction fee. You can use our new tool to see the specific capabilities of your account.

For new store owners, no transaction fee is charged if they're on the Business plan and a 3% fee is charged if they have Free, Starter, or Pro plans.

Q. Why is there a cart in my menu?

A cart link will show in your navigation menu if your store is set to "Add to Cart" mode. You can change your mode to "Buy Now" under Store > Settings > General and the cart link will disappear. In the future, we will provide other ways for you display a cart on your site outside of the navigation menu.

I had been asking for months if there was going to be a replacement for Google Checkout, which, prior, had not cost us to set up on Weebly. I had been promised, for months, that you were coming up with a replacement for Google Checkout. Not once, in all those communications did you share that yes, there was going to be a replacement but there would be a monthly cost. And, a significant monthly cost.

My clients buy one piece at a time and I am also a low volume seller. I do not believe your plan addresses the needs of the small vendor at all.

Myself, very disappointed in the lack of transparency on the part of Weebly.

I and out shopping for a solution that will fulfill my needs as I grow my website. I have found one and they are calling me this morning to assist - there are plans from credible sites for low volume one at a time sellers for hand made goods.

Wrote to you, but it appears that Weebly has not addressed the needs of the low volume seller of "one at a time" times that are "odd sized" and measurements on shipping are critical.

What I needed was a "Buy It Now" button
Zip code specific with weight/size
Cost per transaction (or transaction fee)

It appears you are not going to be able to meet those needs with this eCommerce shopping cart package.

Not an issue, I just have to go shopping for a package that will work and get all my item buttons replaced within two weeks. This is going to be an enormous amount of work no matter if I used your plan or not.

I totally agree with Kathleen, i feel thesame way. Last week, i just upgraded to Pro for $100 and thought might be some changes, especially on checkouts and very disappointed that this is not even included to the new upgrade. It is very disappointing that in order for me to get the best resources and needs as a small vendor from weebly, I have to be constantly spending money. I may also start looking for a better site that will fit my needs as a small/low volume vendor.

Im trying to work around new changes but It now takes me longer. I do not like the product page & here is why.
Lets say I sale clothes, everythg from socks, shirts, hats, suits, etc. I could end up w 5000 to 10000 products. That is alot to go through just to load to web page. And it appears weebly is adding "new" product to the end.
Weebly could help us my if we create a "category" and then tag that product to it then it removes from the product page wout removing from our web pages.
Another feature I would have used is impregnated a Quantity button inside of the $ Button with a default of 1.
But the biggest hassle is that dang product page!

Another feature I dont like is not being able to upload to the product page.
I keep getting a message the a business cant upload in a educational account.
I have a Pro account. This happened Thursday and yall fixed it. But after uploading 8 things friday it on the blink again. Guess Ill have to wait till Monday for this to be fixed again.

I'm having the same problem.. can't upload anything without being charged. Which, actually, I'm pretty excited about the ecommerce thing here. But I don't like feeling I HAVE to purchase it. Just sayin. And as it stands now, I have to upgrade to add any more products.

Like Kathleen above, I have eagerly awaited the new e-commerce solution. It looks pretty, but the price you want is RIDICULOUS.

I havent had a whole lot of orders on my personal website (webshop is down now) and my items are small and fairly inexpensive. I would have to sell a ton to justify spending $29 a month for this solution. And that is not likely to happen any time soon.

I guess I will stick with Etsy. Built in traffic and you pay by how much you sell. Works for me.

Hi Sonja! If you had added a product to your site prior to the upgrades you should be grandfathered (as mentioned in the commerce update blog post). I know that this was a while ago but I had the same trouble that I couldn't add more than 5 products without being asked to upgrade. I filled in the online form for Customer Support and received a response within 10 minutes that they had fixed it and I am now grandfathered to unlimited. (Grandfathered - Upgraded to unlimited products)

The store is easy to use but the price is not! I used your service because it was free. I could have stayed with Go Daddy for the price you are charging. Also you didn't give an option to stay with the original e-commerce format. Nor did you advice your clients that a charge was attached to the update in order to continue to do business.

Just to be extra clear, if you have used any of the store features in the past, like the product elements, you can continue to use those as you have, free of charge. If you have an existing store on Weebly, nothing will change.

If you have an existing store and would like to use some of the new Weebly eCommerce features, like inventory management, tax and shipping calculations, or digital products, you'll need to upgrade to the Business plan.

Starting at $19/month, we think it's one of the most affordable and powerful full eCommerce platforms out there.

David, can you change it so users can build their shop with all their products but only charge for the store button to be active? All you need to do is hide the Store button when the website is published live but users could still have the other unlimited pages.

It is unfair charging people for when they are building their shop with products.

If you can't do that can you have a help file on how to make a CSV file with weebly in mind.

That way I could build up my products offline without be charged and when I have enough It would then be worth taking out a subscription and uploading the file.

like every comment on here except for the CEO's I agree. The eCommerce is a lot of money, 200 and something to 300 etc, even with a discount, like no wonder only large vendors like Amazon can effort it and people who get money all day everyday. But seriously, I was disappointed to see how lame my pro plan seem compared to the business plan. I was like oh yeah, going to go business, but that's money I can't spent. But I mean it is tempting that you don't have to pay transaction fee, but for 19.95 or whatever a month, I better not be charged for anything else. Good luck to those who can effort the business plan, it's ready cool :D!

I would have jumped in immediately if the shipping calculator offered dimensions and weight. If you ship oversized items, dimensions are so important. Dang. Still want to know more though....a free trial would be great so we could test-drive it.

Hi David,! I see that I have a 0 balance if I subscribe to a 1 month subscription, excellent, thank you!! I was getting ready to use ecwid but would really like to have it all under one roof. So it will import my Etsy items? You see, my problem has been page management...my old site has over 300 pages of art and that is not manageable with Weebly's page structure. Can I have large pictures? Very excited, thanks!

I can't get the Etsy importer to work. Hopefully there will be some support for this. The shipping system is not what I need for my many sizes. I'd have to configure every county for every product, forget about it. So I'll have to do free shipping and "email for international quote," bummer. But I'm going to hang with this. Hoping for more support and a robust shipping calculator with either real-time quotes based on dimensions and weight (like eBay), or flat rate profiles for different sized products (like Etsy). This is still very exciting, thanks!

Is there currently a way to enter the quantity of a product? And in the future some kind of heads up via an email would be nice to inform your users of new changes. I've been dreading this day for awhile now to be able to find a replacement for google's checkout that allows for quantities and only charges when I make a sell.

Hi Janet! If you upgrade a site to Business, you can use our Inventory tracking feature. When editing a product in Store > Products, check the box for inventory, then enter the amount. Whenever a customer makes purchase it will reduce the inventory, and if you sell out it will list the item as "sold out". I'm sure the folks at Weebly are working on solutions for the shipping calculator. They did mention there is more coming soon, so I imagine this is just the beginning of good things to come.

I agree that a free trial would be great for existing users (even if it were limited to Pro users). I'm nervous to pay for anything without a free trial. Several other e-commerce platforms offer this and even though I'll likely move forward, my recommendation to Weebly is to build in functionality for offering the new services on a trial basis.

Like one of the other comments suggested, you can use a coupon (if you have one) and purchase only one month. If you like it you can renew for another month (or longer) and if you don't we can cancel the subscription and issue you a full refund.

Click on "Store" at the top, then "Settings" and under "General" there is a setting for Store Mode. If you set it to "Buy Now" you won't have it in your navigation and people will be able to buy your products without the cart step.

Hi Vladimir! As Joel pointed out, you go to Store > Settings > General and change the store mode to "buy product". This does mean that customers will buy products one at a time rather than adding to a cart on your site. What is the max file size for digital goods?

It's a pretty important issue for digital goods sellers and it's not mentioned once in the blog or on Weebly.com or in the Editor...

Unfortunately yes that is too small. I realise selling an e-book or an mp3 doesn't need that much data but if you sell software, Weebly is a no go.

A lot of your competitors (the many that I've used/researched) allow 2Gb of either hosted storage by them (usually Amazon S3) or linked through from your own provider. But always 2Gb.

I was very interested with the beta prospect of this new feature but it's an impossibility with only 250mb and I feel all software developers are going to be in the same boat with Weebly.

It's a shame that I can't use it.

Just last week I finished putting together my e-commerce on our site by using PayPal and available buttons since the other platform (Googlesense, maybe?) was no longer available. Would have been nice to know this before then. As someone that hasn't made a penny yet using the site and deciding to dive into e-commerce, and only having a short window of time for the discount...which, even with it is a big jump from Pro... At this time I cannot afford it with holiday obligations coming up. I have enjoyed Weebly for several years, but will have to, sadly, look at other options being as I will be severely limited to how many products I am able to offer unless I can upgrade to Business. I'm sure this is a great new offer, but for some of us small time Pro members just starting to grow and not having the capital, it is a roadblock.

It would be nice if the folks on the PRO plan could have 15 products. We are a non-profit and would like to offer the ability to sell ads in our annual banquet book. We have more than 5 types of ads but 15 would work. This would also be an incentive for those to upgrade from starter who may not need the large number of the business plan and might encourage folks who have the 15 limit to upgrade in the future as their online business grows.

I agree, sadly I only have two products if I were to add more I would be charged nearly 300 for the year without coupon, and 200 with coupon. (For the year). Super cannot afford that. (I am a pro member). That's the only thing I have an issue with is limiting the product amount considering it wasn't like this before the change. It frightens me on what this does for us designers with the designer platform once it goes there. I have a client who has 24 products and adds more from time to time, if he adds any more product he will have to pay the fee. I feel people will start to turn away :/

i agree that 5 products is way too small. i am a homeowner association and 15-20 products would allow me to continue using Weebly. Paying for Business class just to add a sixth product is not economically reasonable.

I left big cartel to join weebly because I felt like the templates offered were better and had a wider range. It was very hard to leave site that was dedicate to ecommerce and spend WEEKS revamping my site to give it a more professional look. I had to find several loop holes to allow my site to still be an ecommerce site from creating my own "buy it now" button through paypal, to using an image plus the product to give multiple pictures of one product. Weebly does not allow you to have coupons or run any kind of sales for your site without you manually having to change prices in paypal and then copy and paste it on the site itself. It would definitely have been nice for those that have been using weebly as an ecommerce site to have the opportunity to try the ecommerce site that you are offering now for free especially when we are already pro members. I honestly think that going with another company for my site would be more beneficial. As a small business one of the biggest things is making sure to keep costs down so that you can make money. While I thought going with Weebly would help increase the professionalism of my site and drive business it was almost a step back because I am spending more money on this site and trying to make it have all the features that an ecommerce site should already offer without burning a hole in your pocket. I really wish weebly would have taken care of those who have been working with you and patiently waiting for the improvements for the ecommerce site instead of making you pay $300 to get the $20/month price. It's honestly not appealing and does not make me want to recommend weebly to my friends that are starting their own online sites.

Hi Guys! As you may have read in our commerce update blog post, we made some revisions and Pro sites can now have up to 25 products. In addition to that, if you had any products on your site prior to the upgrade you have automatically been grandfathered in and can have an unlimited number of products.

I am new to this and doing my website myself. I added a product with description and picture and all showed up and I hit save. When I then go back under my menu the product isn't there. Also, I have different categories under my menu, when I added the new product it didn't ask me which category to put it under. Please help. Thank you!

Hi Diana! Once you've added a product you have two different ways to show it on your site. One is through the storefront, which if you don't have a navigation link for you can add one: http://kb.weebly.com/store-navigation.html

The other option is to drag a product element to a page, then connect that to the product.

Don't forget to publish after doing either of those; hope that helps!

Like others above, we are excited to see these new features being launched. E-commerce is a big necessity for many small businesses and these features are certainly on par with the large embeddable online commerce providers.

That said, I'm left with a slight bitter taste in my mouth. Our family has 4 pro accounts with you guys and have been loyal to your company since well before your 130K Facebook fan base. Asking people to sign up for PRO in nearly every 'new feature' blog post made a lot of people jump on board for a pro account and suddenly adding a new category to your platform in lieu of a fairly recent changes to your prices not too long ago doesn't make us feel like family.

I suspect that pro users will not be happy about this update because they will feel their investment in pro services were just not enough. I know you guys recently moved into a new office and are expanding your staff as your company gets bigger and with that comes additional cost, but please keep these things in mind as you trek forward. You already had to change your prices once because people weren't happy. You are Weebly....not Squarespace, Wix, Webs, Moonfruit or any other competitor. We are here because we want to be and I am certainly no different than the rest. I love your program and plan to stay. The update just made things....bitter-sweet.

Please confirm that this is PER ACCOUNT and not per WEBSITE.

Those of us who were grandfathered in since we have been with you guys for years have 10 or more sites per account. If we upgrade, it is for our WHOLE ACCOUNT (all our sites will gain ecommerce functionality), right?

If that is correct, that is potentially more reasonable for people (at least PRO users that have been with you for years) to deal with. The price is what gets us because it is $20/month for much of this functionality (plus a ton of other e-commerce specific features) at many e-commerce competitors. The UPGRADE link is labeled under EACH SITE in our account, which makes us scared to make the purchase because it may only upgrade that one site....and we have many others in our account. Not sure if that makes sense, but if it does...please advise.

David, you and your team are doing a great job. Don't take our venting to heart. We just want to make sure you don't start becoming like your competitors. People joined Weebly because it is a GREAT service at a CHEAP cost. Obviously, when prices go up...that makes you look more and more like your competitors and somehow, things start to blur because you can compare and contrast a lot better. We don't want to compare apples to apples because as many other Pro users will attest to, we're here because your company is in a category of its own. Don't lose sight of that.

Hi! The Business upgrade (like new subscriptions to Starter and Pro) is a per-site upgrade, so you would need to upgrade any site to Business that you want to utilize those features on.

I agree with your analysis, this was bittersweet - I was under the illusion that "Pro" meant we were to be "included".

Honestly, though, for those of us who did not use Stores and were marketing our products with individual buttons - it will continue to work, if I understand this all correctly, the exact same way.

The only thing that has changed is that they did not come up for a solution for the individual Google Checkout Buttons that used to be offered on the site. There are other plans out there and we will just have to update each individual button on the site with PayPal Buttons, Amazon Buttons, or buttons from Forte and other sites that offer that type of selling solution.

Also, forgot to ask, but is there any way of linking the sales generated to an external URL so Warehouse Management Systems can be notified? I only ask as I have a few potential clients that would need this feature because we sometimes outsource to a pick and pack facilitator.

Hi David! While the commerce upgrades are not currently available for the Designer Platform, this is something we are working on so stay tuned!

As for linking the sales with an external Warehouse supplier, there isn't a way within Weebly to do this right now. You could set up rules within your email program to automatically forward purchase emails to a supplier, though. Hope that helps!

However digital downloads are hugely important for me! Even if it is just a single item (I am developing an application)!

I will gladly pay the Pro price, but Business is waaay too expensive for me, considering I need a single feature!

NEED HELP A.S.A.P.!!!!! Ok, so if you pay for 2 years and with the 33% off, it's only $13.09 per month. That definitely sounds better. So I took the plunge and paid it, BUT..... it auto applied it to only my test site, not my Pro site and I wanted it on my pro site. I don't have any products on my test site. HOW IN THE WORLD do I get it applied to my Pro site??? Please reply ASAP. I took the day off my real job to work on my weebly site so I'm wasting money waiting for this to get straightened out. Hi Kris! You can indeed simply set up the upgraded site and just point your domain to that instead. The Business upgrade includes all of the features of Starter/Pro, so you can also use a domain with it that you purchased elsewhere.

I know the price is bothering some people, but having set up many ecommerce solutions for my clients, I think the price is GREAT for unlimited items, plus you get the FREE SSL Certificate! You pay extra for that on GoDaddy or other hosts, and it is a must for an online store.

With ECommerce you get what you pay for, and it is never cheap to host it. Having it integrated into your current website, supported by Weebly, and knowing it is sure to keep improving in Weebly's style - I am soooo excited about this feature and telling my client's who are on Weebly about it!!

I have been happily using the Product elements in WeeblyPro for a couple of years. Today I went to add just one item and was frustrated that there is now an additional step: you first have to add the item to the Store, and only then can you add the element to your page. I went back to the legacy mode and the buy it now, but it's still requiring you to first upload the product to the store before adding the element. Is there a way around this? My other concern is that when I type the product description into the store, the text is showing up with weird spacing and line indentations in the actual product box.

I love the features in the new ecommerce plan. No, I've not tried them yet, but the features seem very useful. The only thing im really disappointed in, is that that as sounded off by many, there are many cheaper plans that covers exactly what you are trying to provide (some even more) at a very much lower price.

Take example, I am on a selling platform in which I have all the features you have, and I dont even have to pay a monthly fee for it. Im happy to use it because supposing I dont have any orders this week, I wont feel the pinch of having to pay while not making any money.

Im sincere in wanting to try the business plan, but I earnestly hope that Weebly can reduce the price drastically. Weebly, you will definitely know I have been a customer with you for quite a long time. I hope not to change to another provider. I have faith and confidence in weebly. But I hope the price will drop with no reduction of features.

So disappointed. I might be grandfathered in but I can't upload a single new product without upgrading. I will now, once again, be on the search for a website and will have to start over again. I will be also telling all of the other vendors that I so happily recommended Weebly to, that its no longer a viable option. It can take years to build a small business doing what I do, and quite frankly, I can't afford to upgrade. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options. I understand the need to charge for an upgraded site, however, doing this without notice and saying we are grandfathered when really, we are not (I no longer have unlimited listing which is one of the reasons that I came here) and forcing me to upgrade when I was able to use paypal for free is NOT being grandfathered in. I will most certainly be passing this on to everyone that I had formerly recommended this site to. I have spent literally hundreds of hours loading product and building this site and now, I have to start over. Thanks.

Those of us who have pro are grandfathered in to only 5 products if we didn't have any before. IF we had more than 5 products on the site we are grandfathered in, but if we want to add more we must upgrade.

I think it would have received a better response if those of us who had pro still be able to use the unlimited product feature BUT would have to upgrade to business if we wanted the extra features like inventory, shipping, tax feature, SSL, and digital download. Then I can see this getting a better response. But those of us who are small, very small tiny businesses... it is sort of bitter sweet.

The features are fabulous! Don't get me wrong, but I am kind of taken back that as a loyal customer of many years, I am still limited on just 5 products.

I can actually add them to the form but not publish them. I don't disagree that the new features look awesome but it doesn't matter how awesome they are if they are too expensive for me to use. and you are right grandfathered in should mean grandfathered in i.e. unlimited products with the option to upgrade if we wanted the new features. I guess I will have to begin my search again for a viable website that will work for me.

As for the language used for buttons, it's not currently possible to change that, sorry!

For image mouseovers, on product pages if you mouse over the image it will zoom in on the image (provided that the image you uploaded for the product is large).

Grand father?? - there is no button on my page that allows that - if you are asking us all to upgrade to a pro account, surely you should have given us some warning that this is about to happen. For small volume sellers like myself, it makes no sense to upgrade at the present moment - I was considering it in the New Year, but perhaps not such a good idea with such arbitrary treatment of customers. This is extremely annoying - I assume you are happy to lose your non pro customers

It looks pretty good. I have a huge website that already exists (not on weebly, have had it since 1995) And I have been recently used weebly to easily create new sites (LOVE IT!) With this new ecommerce I am tempted to move my huge site.... question is i would like to have functionality such as allowing the customer to input their wording and having that wording show up on the product. Is that possible with weebly? In the future I would like to have the customer be able to manipulate the clip art that I make and upload. Thank you.

Ecwid is an excellent tool, however, if you have more than 10 items but less than 101, you'll pay $12.50 per month plus what you pay Weebly for your Starter (best rate, $3.29 per month) or Pro plan (best rate, $6.63 per month). So, your cost with Ecwid integration would be either $15.89 (with the Starter plan) or $19.13 (with the Pro plan). This compares to $19.54 per month for the Weebly business plan that provides an unlimited number of products and there would be no time required customizing Ecwid's CSS in order to ensure that your shop styling matches your site styling. And, at less than $20 per month, Weebly's online shop pricing is completely in line with just about every other serious shopping platform. If you only have 10 or less products in your store then Ecwid is a great choice. But for larger stores, I don't think cost is going to be the deal-breaker.

Unable to make legacy mode function. Very unhappy. Can't correct, publish changes or do ANYTHING because it "auto upgraded" this site without anyone's permission WHILE it was being worked on and WITHOUT warning. Now I have chatted with an agent AND had a ticket opened and it STILL will not let me do anything... 4 pages of product are visible when you view the site... but NOT visible on the "back side" so I can't do anything with it. EXTREMELY upset and will probably have to completely rebuild all 4 pages in a new format because this "legacy mode" thing did NOT bring back any of the products the way they were before. NOT liking this, Weebly - not at all :-(

I do hope the issue can be resolved. It seems since I can still see the products out front and just not on the back side, it should be as simple as "turn on legacy mode and they are all visible & workable on the back side again" but every time i turn on legacy mode it says it saved, no changes happen, then I go back in and it has it turned off again. Very frustrating. Worried that if this happens with ALL the sites I maintain, not only will *I* lose business as a web designer, but also YOU could lose business because my clients may pull their sites. Hope they fix it ASAP. It is negatively impacting MULTIPLE businesses right now :-(

I know this may be off topic, but with the new update, came new bugs as well.
When i logged on weebly today, it said that i could'nt edit my website. I havent touched any of the settings to do that and every single time i would try to change the name it would either:
Delete all my pages
Rename all my pages
Or lag out and freeze my browser.
I had to delete my website and update my businesses, twitter, facebook, and instagram to say that we were down for maintenance. my business lost interest in future customers. Now don't get me wrong, I love Weebly. Its the best website I've ever seen! But if you could get onto that and notify me if you've fixed the problem, that would be very appreciate

It was asked earlier but there was no response and I would really like to know before considering my purchase. Could you please confirm that this is per account and not per website. Those of us grandfathered in may have several sites with Weebly and if the cost is per site it will not be a viable option for me.

Also, the email also says 'pricing will thus be pro-rated per your specific account scenario' will the discount for months already paid for be shown when I purchase the new plan, I think my year is only about half over and if I can see what my cost will be it will help me decide the term should I go ahead.

Amanda has Weebly confirmed this? If so this is a real shame as I was looking forward to using Weebly commerce but the price will be too much if it's per site. I also feel it is unfair as with my current grandfathered Pro I believe I could have multiple sites with the same features.

I currently have a plan with Ecwid, grandfathered in for $18 per month for 20,000 listings that includes multiple site. What a shame if it is per site!

Yes Jules in an email. I had the same question as you did. I have several sites with them and was curious as well, is it per account or per site. And it's per site. I love the new features, but for tiny little business people like us I can't afford the upgrade to have more than five products.

Those who have more products though are already grandfathered in. So if you have over 5 products you should be grandfathered in from my understanding.

Amanda, thanks for responding. It is really disappointing to hear this cost is per site and is not in keeping with what I consider 'grandfathered in' to mean. If I was paying one price for Pro because I signed on early to Weebly then how do they consider charging me for each site now?

I have never used the current Weebly commerce because it was too cumbersome with over 1500 products so it will do me no good. I was so hopeful for the new commerce but will need to continue using Ecwid or find another solution. I won't pay $29 per month for multiple sites and this decision essentially makes all my Weebly sites useless. Very disappointing!

If you are an existing user with a store and using PayPal, you will not be charged any transaction fees by Weebly. Your regular PayPal transaction fees will still apply, but Weebly will not be charging any new fees.

The video shows makes this all look fantastic and very impressive. Perhaps I was a little foolish to assume it would have been included in the standard price already paid. Fortunately I do not require an online store yet and I would have to be very confident that I would get plenty of sales in order to upgrade to this if I did.

I hope you have some other updates planned soon that are not ecommerce related and can be enjoyed by all the weebly users.

First let me say, I love Weebly and have been a paying customer for years. I am slightly confused by this rollout and have several questions - the most important is:

You say your business plan "charges no transaction fees on your sales (credit card transaction fees still apply)" Does this mean you are charging 3% in addition to the rates I have to pay to paypal for every transaction for Pro accounts?

If you are an existing user with a store and using PayPal, you will not be charged any transaction fees by Weebly. Your regular PayPal transaction fees will still apply.

Just logged on to add new products to our site (pro) and have noticed that we now have to pay to add them. Not very far on all small businesses that we now have to pay even more than we already do and it is quite a considerably amount considering that from what I can make out the charge is per site and we run two!. We don't sell a huge amount per month and find that another additional charge is just too much for us. We have had a great experience so far with Weebly but may have to look at alternative sites due to the charges.

Also what is not clear to us and as I have read others is if we have to pay Weebly a 3% charge on top of the fees we already pay to Paypal.

At no point was any email sent out outlining these charges which is quite a poor show and we only found out due to trying to make a change to the site.

We would appreciate some clarification on this.

Hi Mag! My apologies for the confusion! We have made some changes so users such as yourself who already had products on your site prior to the upgrade have been grandfathered. This means you should be able to add an unlimited number of products to your site. If you're having issues where you are unable to, please go to help.weebly.com and get in touch with us.

I have a huge grocery delivery website with over 680 pages. It took me over 2 years to set up my website.

With the update I can not edit anything. Each page that had my products on them, is blank. I have to edit it daily due to grocery prices.

The new secure checkout page does not match how I run my business. I offer a delivery service, not a shipping service. I can get PayPal's shopping cart service to work with my website by explaining my company does not ship, we deliver.

I had a brand new customer contact me today and I know she could not use my service, so I probably lost her. I am in a resort area of Florida and this is my busiest season, with "snowbirds" arriving and needing a grocery delivery service.

I don't know what to do.

Aaarrgghh!!! I'm a pro user and quite happy with things the way they are now. My products are connected up and sell through PayPal.

After reading about this new development I went to my pages and could not find an option to disable the "store" option.

I don't sell enough to make it worth my while to pay more for the store.

PLEASE tell me my site will not be messed with. That you won't charge me a percentage for items I sell through PayPal, that you won't charge extra for the "store" account I don't need, that you won't limit the number of items I can display and sell.

I might be interested IF the monthly fee was a LOT lower. I know it costs you big bucks to get everything created and working, but us really small businesses just can't afford those monthly fees.

HI Marguerite! My apologies for the confusion! There is no fee if you're using PayPal as your checkout provider. There is also no extra for using the Store itself, so while you do need to use it to create products (http://kb.weebly.com/add-products.html), you don't need to pay extra unless you want to use the extra features that the Business plan provides.

Hi Gloria--Trish with Weebly here. The new Business plan includes all the great features from Pro, so you will never have to upgrade the same site twice. Your pricing will also be pro-rated to take into account the time remaining on your Pro subscription, so you will actually save money!

Hi Jules! If you have grandfathered Pro it remains a separate service and does not change the cost of upgrading a site to Business. The reason for this is because grandfathered Pro is an account-level service and applies to all of the sites in your account. If you upgrade one site to Business (which is a site-level service), your Pro subscription still applies to all of the other sites in your account.

Coincidentally, I had just put together a demo for a client of an Ecwid store in their Weebly site. Showed them that this morning but had not yet upgraded to a paid Ecwid plan. Then I saw the Weebly shop and was rather excited to see that it smartly pre-populated the new shop with the contents of all the old e-commerce elements. Much of the Ecwid functionality appears replicated in the new Weebly shop except for one deal-breaker: In the product options, I need a text box so that buyers can enter free-form text (like initials for jewelry). You have a drop-down list option, a radio button option, and a color choice option but no text box. So, you're presuming that product options are always made from a predefined list. This is unfortunate since it's a deal-breaker for my client. I really would have liked to use the Weebly shop but without that text box option, it's a no go.

Further to my product options comment, it wasn't actually clear to me how you even go about populating any of the options. For example, when I select the color choice option, where exactly do I add the color choices for the product? Drop-down list and radio button options also lead nowhere when you actually want to populate the choices.

As much as I've been waiting for this update, I have been disappointed. There is nearly no difference between Pro and Starter for e-commerce. The 5 product limit renders Pro as useless as Starter. Pro should be a "happy medium" between Business and Starter, it should fall somewhere between in price, and offer more products than Starter, but fewer than business (say 20 products, or 30-50). This prices itself far outside of my affordable range, which is disappointing because you have missed an opportunity to nurture small businesses. With more realistic features in the Pro plan, small business could start to grow and eventually work up to the Business category. 5 products is not enough to allow a business to get started, so there won't be any room for growing into the Business plan.
Is there any hope that this plan structure will change in the future? I've been holding off expanding onto other Etsy-like websites in the hope of having a built-in platform on my website, but at the present rate, it is no where near affordable or feasible.

H Aelia and Julie! We made some changes to this; Starter sites can now have 10 products, Pro sites can have 25, and if you had products on your site prior to the upgrade then you've been grandfathered in and can have unlimited products. Hope that helps!

The biggest flaw in this system is not retaining the old system while offering a more costly, more comprehensive system at the same time. That would be great. Then if my client wanted a much more serious ecommerce solution I could offer it without leaving Weebly. As it is now, I and many like me will move to some other platform rather than be forced to pay much more for exactly what we have been doing with Weebly. It is absolutely not good enough to say, "we are grandfathering you with the exact number of products you sell today and if you want to add one more then you are screwed. Ha ha. It's not funny. It's bad business. I can;t believe that your service, which has had such a good vibe for so long, is going in this direction. It is really sad. I implore you to rethink this strategy.

Hey Janina--Trish with Weebly here. If your client used any of the store features in the past, like the product elements, you can continue to use those as you have, free of charge. If you have an existing store on Weebly, nothing will change.

If you have an existing store and would like to use some of the new Weebly eCommerce features, like inventory management, tax and shipping calculations, or digital products, you'll need to upgrade to the Business plan.

Your site looks to have had more than 5 products pre-launch, which should mean you are grandfathered to add unlimited products.

If it is true, Trish, that I can add or subtract products in the grandfathered system, then that would make a big difference to me personally. Here is what it says on your site: "all of your existing functionality, including PayPal integration and 'number' of products, will remain the same and your account will be “grandfathered”. If it is dependent on the 'number' of products that is very different than having the old system, where iI can add or subtract products grandfathered.
In the case of one of my clients, I have been about to add some ecommerce pages to her site, which under the old system would not have cost her any more than she is already paying for a pro account. Now if I tell her she has to cough up a significant amount of money to do this, it may be best if we switch to some other system. I just don't know. All I'm saying is that if you keep the old system as is, and add a new better system for more money for those who need it, then this change will seem like progress and not like a gun to the head. Wait...you cannot be serious?

I never set up an online e-commerce because I was getting the actual business running before we upgraded our business efforts to online sales. So, with this "Weebly feature release", you essentially DOWNGRADED MY PAID PRO ACCOUNT.

I have NEVER heard of a 5 product max and this is new to Weebly. So what you're saying is that I originally paid for the possibility to sell an unlimited amount of products online using the former weebly platform and this update now forces me to upgrade to a new service (upgrade from an already paid service which you advertised and I paid for) in order to sell products simply because I didn't take advantage of this FEATURE in my EXISTING SERVICE PLAN.

Come on guys.....there are over 100 comments on this feature and most of the people (who are like me, checking the blog DAILY for updates because we LOVE WEEBLY) are giving you negative but constructive criticism. David knows that the beta test was successful but the pricing is likely not well taken by your users.

Yes, this e-commerce feature you are releasing is an incredible addition to your service. Nobody will deny that. That said, you are charging the same price as many other embeddable e-commerce platforms who provide a lot of other features (with a ton of templating options, plugins, statistics, and so on). Your starter account is $3, next plan up from that is a few bucks more....then a huge jump to $20 per month. There is a huge gap there.

You went from a very simple e-commerce platform to a HUGE upgrade, but I can't help but wonder what this upgrade does for those who don't use this feature. I don't recall any major platform upgrades in features for those hundreds of thousands of users for more than several months.

Some examples I've been waiting for (some for years):
1) Membership database - this was once in your original feature request system that used arrows up and down to show you what people wanted. Then, it got deleted when you switched to the new feature request system, where....it is also missing despite multiple requests from users.

2) Your app has all of our stats based on 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and several years of website stats. If you can show me all this stored info on the weebly app, why don't you let me (as a PRO user) see this info on my desktop when I log in through the web? That one still doesn't make sense considering you advertised enhanced web stats when I signed up.

3) A forum for Weebly users to talk to one another, talk and give each other tricks and tips. I know of at least 5 outside companies that are capitalizing on the fact that the mother ship isn't providing a means for users to talk to each other.

4) What ever happened to the "designer contest" you guys once had. That contest made us all think that people could sign up to make templates for Weebly and sell it through your service. Well, that feature slowly withered away. People are PAYING OUTSIDE COMPANIES for premium weebly templates. I would much rather support the mother ship for an upgraded template through another weebly user and have you take a cut for that. Asking for more money and adding a limitation to my existing service is not only unethical, probably legally in the grey (cough), and just a low blow.

Don't take any of these comments to heart. We love WEEBLY. Hope you'll read all the comments on this page today.

Still waiting to hear back from your staff on whether or not this upgrade is PER ACCOUNT vs PER WEBSITE. Based on the number of replies other comments are getting, it seems an answer to that question is slowly being formulated......

I really appreciate your candid and honest feedback. We are working on many of the areas you mentioned and, unfortunately, are merely human in the amount of work we can accomplish :)

We are committed to making sure that you do not feel like you are getting downgraded, that was certainly not our intention at all. So we'll be thinking about what we can do on that front.

The Business package is only available on a per-site basis. Unfortunately, the unit economics mean that we can't offer it on a per-account basis (we'd be out of business in short order), but we put in a lot of effort to make sure that we honored our promise to our most loyal customers that we'd grandfather their existing Pro subscription so that they can keep Pro for their whole account.

I agree with the comments made by Pro User. I have been a Weebly Pro Customer for 2 years and now find myself downgraded from an unlimited number of products to just 5 simply because I have not used this feature before.

As an Australain based business I cannot use the STRIPE option even if I was prepared to pay for it. Shopify is starting to look good.

I just link everything to my etsy site. It works perfect for what I want and avoids massive fees. I can live with paying a dime per listing versus $20/month. For how I operate my site and how I link to the etsy listing, I don't know how this would benefit me.

I've been using them for over 2 years now and their customer service is second-to-none, and it's excellent for SME's as they have a great price/service range to suit all pockets. Oh and in my opinion it beats Ecwid in to the ground!

The Weebly/ShopIntegrator combo is the reason I stay with Weebly. A fab website builder coupled with a brilliant eShop provider - works for me!

I won't be changing for now.

I am happy to hear that my ecommerce system is grandfathered without any limitations. That is good. I also strongly urge you to continue the free simple ecommerce system for anyone with a pro plan even if they have not yet used it. That would not only be fair it would work better, because not everyone needs the capabilities of your new system, which is GREAT for those who do need it. For example, I have been about to set up a very simple ecommerce system for a client who is already using weebly, but I had been thinking that later when she wanted to get deeper into ecommerce we might have to look for another platform. Now we wouldn't have to. But I cannot tell her that to go ahead with the simple plan we have she will have to pay another 20 dollars a month. Please consider the possibility that allowing people to continue to use the old system as well as to take advantage of the new one will be to everyone's benefit. Thanks, Janina

I don't understand the configuration; if I set the Categories - then on the Store front is shows the Categories, but then also shows the individual Products below the Categories!

Surely it should show the Categories and then a customer would click there, to then be taken to the next page which should have the Products listed - not Categories and Products list on the same page?!

Maybe I'm setting it up wrong but so far it doesn't look good to me (but I'd be happy to be proven wrong of course!).

Weebly - you really need to reconsider the difference between the 2 lower levels you're offering. Only 5 products available in the Pro AND charging 3% per transaction?!

Hi Phil! My apologies for the confusion! You have a lot of control over what is displayed on the storefront. You can check or uncheck the option for individual products to display on the store front (when editing a product it's at the bottom of the page). This allows you to feature certain products on the store front if you want, or if you don't want any displayed you can only show the categories. You can also go to Store > Storefront and control what products are shown there, as well as enable or disable showing categories on the storefront.

As mentioned in our more recent blog posts, Pro users can now have up to 25 products and the %3 fee only applies when using Stripe. PayPal users do not have this fee. Hope this helps!

Hi Rick--To clarify, *Weebly* does not charge transaction fees on sales with our Business Plan. If you choose to utilize PayPal as a payment gateway, then PayPal's fees would still apply separately from us. And if you choose to use Stripe or Authorize.net, their fees would also still apply separately from us. In both cases the seller would pay the fees. Hope that helps!

Hi, I am just learning weebly and love it so far! I am interested in the ecommerce for one of my sites, but I need an input field for my customers to be able to type in their monogram that will be going on their iphone case. I saw fields for size, color, but nothing that allowed the customer to input a name. I know in paypal ecommerce I was able to create a "button" which did allow customers this ability, so I am curious if there is something similar. If not then I can continue using the custom html code through paypal and go that route instead.

Kathy, I had the same question and asked Weebly via their chat help. Turns out that a text box option for products is not available. The only options available are a drop-down list, radio buttons, or color choice. Weebly is thus presuming that customers will indicate product options via a predefined list and have omitted the possibility that they might want to provide a custom choice (initials, name, local sports team name, etc.). A rather surprising omission and almost certainly a deal-breaker for many stores. Ecwid provides a wide variety of product options (including both text fields and text areas). And, as you say, you can use a custom PayPal button particularly if you have a relatively small online shop.

Thanks for the link for feature suggestions/votes. However, does anyone from Weebly actually monitor that page? It only shows 5 completed items (and they're old things like "choose a font"), and some of the wish list items are already-completed features (like inventory control, iPad/iphone apps for monitoring site traffic, etc.).

I submitted a request for text-box options, as well. We are a non-profit and we need donor recognition names (or attendee names, for events) for many of our store "items" -- but the current Weebly eCommerce setup would only pass along the payment/PayPal billing name (which isn't necessarily the name the donor wants for recognition purposes, or for an event attendee for whom she is purchasing a ticket). Following up with hundreds of donors and event attendees to get this information, one by one, defeats the purpose of having an e-commerce "solution." Please help!

Is there any way to change the font size on the product description cause i had not yet published my site and now some product descriptions are larger than the others. I switched back to legacy mode cause I do not like the new style but it still does not allow me to change font size or color and it is very frustrating!!!

Hi Jamie! Font changes can be made if you to Design > Change Fonts. Note though that there isn't a way to change font styling only for the product description, so font changes you make there will also apply to other paragraph text on the site.

However we NEED desperately a subscription service where clients can purchase ongoing / renewals that go directly to their credit card WITHOUT PayPal. A lot of clients in Australia will not deal with PayPal and they are constantly being reported to the Ombudsman for misconduct.

Can you do a subscription service via this?

I am currently using Digital Product Delivery and 2checkout.com for selling spreadsheets. This has been working well for me, but I would love to have one integrated system. You know, some warning would have been nice. I've been in the process of transferring my inventory from Storenvy to my store page here, but I hadn't created all the item slots. And now it looks like I won't be able to without upgrading. AND I'd have to pay for an upgrade to offer digital products too, because that option isn't offered at all.

I've been really happy with Weebly up till now, but this is a HUGE change, and without any prior notice of the changes, I'm screwed. I guess I'm going to have to stick with Storenvy, and look for another platform for my blog.

I am so, so disappointed.

I agree with you; I am disappointed and was shocked that I was given no heads up on the changes. Even with reverting to Legend, I still need to learn the new features which takes time.
I mean, just learning a new email template in gmail takes time.
This is pretty huge. Would have expected some notification. I'm still getitng used to the previous layout change with the new icon/codes and additional steps required to make any changes.

Anyway, you can still have a weebly blog page just add a blog page and feature only a blog page on your site, and then have it link to your storeenvy shop. The weebly blog feature is great. Good luck to you....

I just started using Weebly a week ago and am thrilled. This is just the icing on the cake, especially since I just shelved plans for a couple of promotional deals due to fears of PayPal adding a reserve or hold to my account. I was getting ready to have a small purpose-built e-commerce site setup just for my needs. I have a few questions to which I haven't been able to find answers.

1) If I choose Authorize.net to handle payments can I bring my own Authorize.net account that I secure through my current credit card processor or do I have to sign-up through Weebly? My current processor is offering an Authorize.net account my my current rates which are far better than what you're showing.

2) Is it possible to create items which are hidden from people browsing the site, but can be found by giving the customer a specific product code or link? We'll be offering some specials to a subset of our customers that won't be available to the general public and these scenarios would be far more complicated than what could be handled with a simple coupon code. This would also be useful for the situation in which a customer wants to pay an invoice online.

Hi Andrew! Glad that you like the new features! If you want to use Authorize.net you will need to use the account that you already made; there isn't a way to make an authorize.net account through Weebly. When you select that option you'll just provide the appropriate information for your account.

I was super excited about this program until I saw the fees. I certainly did not understand that the cost was $20 per account. So for one account that is $300 per year. Now I am currently paying $47.88 for one year of pro and if I upgrade right now it is asking me for $47.88 for one year but your new rates show almost $7 per month. So If I upgrade right now for $47.88 isn't that better. When do these no rates start? I tried the chat and no one answers, no one has answered me on email either. Part of this conversation says that if you have pro you get this service free and other parts say no. So which is it? Is this program free for pro users that are already signed up or do we have to pay a per account fee? Do current pro users get the old rate of $47.88 when they renew?

I also saw one man who said he did not get the digital format unless he renewed and that pro only gave him 5 products? I wish you had a phone number where we could talk to someone. While I think this is a wonderful concept, I see there are many things that could cause me to ponder.

Sam, that's exactly my thoughts. These features are really great with weebly. However those of us who were planning on selling or gearing up to, unfortunately cannot now, even though we are pro we still must upgrade.

I was grandfathered in the first pricing change at the beginning of this year, so I get 10 sites for $47.88 a year. However, if I want to sell on one of them, I can upgrade for $299 a year. This is simply not affordable for us small business people. Otherwise we are pro and long time users, that are only limited to 5 products.

It would have been more beneficial to those of us who are pro to at least be able to sell products on weebly's platform, however not have any additional features such as the SSL, Inventory, Coupons, etc, and upgrade to business plan to receive the other upgrades.

It's not sitting well with some people who I manage their websites with. One was getting ready to start a store, and now cannot. She is moving now to wordpress.

I love this feature, but the cost for those of us who do have pro and small business it's just not reasonable.

See for someone with a huge website it is ok but for me I have use the URL feature and have all the PayPal integrated into my site now. I have 4 stores. So in order to convert I would have to pay 1200 per year. Sadly this is not for me. I must pass.

Pro sites can now have up to 25 products, and if you already added products to the site prior to the upgrade you've been grandfathered and can add an unlimited number of products.

I use your website for my photography business. I would love to be able to have galleries I can have separate passwords for instead of one password for the whole site. I also love that you guys have done this buying through the website but I am curious as to if you have made it photography friendly as well. It would be great to have my clients be able to look through their own private gallery and order images right online.

I too have a photography website, however you can use Shootproof for the gallery option and keep your domain. It's just an add on. You can also create password protected galleries for your clients. I hope this helps!

While I commend Weebly for adding the features I too feel cheated as having paid for the pro upgrade and not yet used the shopping/product option do I know find myself having to cough up even more money to use functions I thought I already had????

Also when you say you are grandfathering my `Pro` does this mean I will have pro options for ALL other web site I create OR will I have to upgrade each one to pro?

I too have been recommending Weebly far and wide but now feel like I am being squeezed and being changed what others might charge. Many of us here had thought Weebly was credible, different, trustworthy and showed unique ability to be customer focussed.

In short PLEASE show some loyalty and integrity towards us paid up members please - otherwise all your great work and positive (hard-earned) reputation will be significantly damaged . I await Weebly`s response to me here before I decide what to do next.

Hi Fred! My apologies for the confusion with the new upgrade and how it relates to your current subscription! If you choose to upgrade your site to Business from Pro, we pro-rate what you had left of Pro and subtract that from the cost of the Business upgrade since you have site-level Pro. As for being grandfathered, that means that if you had a product on your site prior to the update you can then add an unlimited number of products without upgrading to Business. If you didn't, you can contact us at [email protected] before the 21st of this month and we can grandfather you.

Now you are only offering 5 items per account on anything accept for business accounts that spend 300 a year. It seems many are upset about the cost being per site rather than per account. Perhaps, as an option, instead of having unlimited products Weebly could have had a high upper limit that could be used on multiple sites in one account. I have one shop that will have about 5000 items but another that is likely no more than 200 items. The larger shops cost would be reasonable but for 200 products there are much less expensive options. The old Weebly isn't an option for the smaller shop as it is digital products.

I am getting tired of looking at e-commerce options and was really hopeful this time.

Ok, I tried this program out and it is professional. I added in one product on my pro account just to try out the system. The only thing I did not like is the ability to edit the photo. Is there a way to edit the photo you add. I will probably add this to a main store. I can see how it could add sales.

I logged into Weebly to find that there doesn't appear to be an option to turn off the store. Most photos of product are missing, and the ones remaining are distorted. The option to revert to the legacy format is inoperable. ***PLEASE FIX THE REVERT OPTION***

When/if I publish my site, will a store automatically be included? I do not want a "store" appearance with multiple columns. I prefer the simple format I already have, had planned a few changes to it and was very unpleasantly surprised when I logged in just now.

That there was zero warning of the changes, and that there isn't a way to opt out of the store is most annoying and disappointing. Very poor communications, Weebly.

I opened a link to look at information about the shopping cart. It was NOT a BUY this item link and you installed the cart in my web and informed me that I had just enrolled. I am FURIOUS.

UNETHICAL way for you to do business.

I have deactivated auto renewal, banned you from charging me via my Visa and am proceeding on deactivating eleven websites. Your speed in sending me an apology and getting your shopping cart out of my website will determine if my other 9 pro websites remain with you.

The audacity of over selling your product. I have two professional accounts, I am on the way to shut down the auto renews and phase out one of them. I will take all of those elsewhere where marketing is less pushy. NEVER upgrade anyone without permission. I was already fed up with your aggressive wording of renewal notices.

You can actually deactivate the cart in your menu. If you go to your "store" then to settings and general you will have to put the "buy now" instead of add to cart. This gets rid of the "cart" in the menu.

Tons of glitches! I logged in tonight to make a small update and was forced into the new platform. Then I find pictures missing in the editor...names of pages changed...frustrated. After a couple hours of digging, I find I can go to Legacy Mode. Then the whole look of things is different, I can't edit the size of the text of the items nor change colors, etc. Now the item names are HUGE. The large item names look silly and crowded. Did we miss something when changing to the new setup?

It isn't that I don't like what is going on, it is I like the way I already had it set up. I know there are a lot of new features, many of them I will end up using but I should be able to select to keep my layout and editing features the way it was.

I am now adding pictures back that were there before and hoping that when I update the site...my Pay-pal shopping cart still works correctly. Lots of good new features but I want the old editing options back too.

You are providing only credit card options while Ecwid and Jimdo have more than 10 payment options like

Bank wire Transfer.
COD
Payment in Advance.
Cash by another options.
By Cheque.
Local Pick-Up
Off Line Order payment by western union/ Money Gram/Trans-fast, Xoom etc.
But You are providing only three payment options using only credit card.

I was interested in upgrade but Payment options are so limited.

Will you be proving other payment options in Futures ? If so, we can upgrade.

Right now you are limited to credit cards when using Stripe and Authorize.net, although if you choose the PayPal checkout option customers can pay with their PayPal accounts (which lets users use other methods to add funds to their accounts including bank transfers).

It gets worse.

30 pages of my website carrying picture galleries are messed up and i need to deactivate them and rewrite. A weeks work. time do not have to spare. Appalled by the unauthorized change image to my site which was looking beautiful.

The option to remove the card as advised here, I'm afraid is not showing in my store options. When I do all the work of rewriting those 30 pages that will be being placed elsewhere. For those sorts of prices I can get selling cart sites that provide a high exposure on top of my own viewers to my for sale items. I already have my main for sale items with Amazon. I left expensive shopping cart sites to come to Weebly four years ago. Now all the benefit of my pro membership unlimited PayPal for sale items has corroded and I made the mistake of paying for pro membership in advance. Bet Weebly will nto rfund me two pro advance paid memberships and all my domains with them fees as I'm ready to start again elsewhere after four years being loyal to Weebly

Seeing my art images distorted and having to pull them all down is most upsetting to me.

This is sooooo exciting. I have been building Web sites for 15 years and worked for a small-business e-Commerce provider for three of them, where I built stores for clients and did front-end development... Weebly has been constantly blowing my mind this year with all its new features. In short, all e-commerce platforms currently lack the crucial ability to do marketing, i.e. provide more than a paragraph of barely-formatted text to sell a product. I've used everything that's available to small businesses, and Weebly's drag-and-drop buries them all for ease-of-use and the power to do great graphic design.

Anyone who thinks Weebly is overpriced is krrrrrazy, as it's a revolution for designers and site owners. This platform is so underpriced I feel like I'm stealing.

I'd love to know if user accounts (and reports) are planned. Thrilled to see product dimensions will be added to shipping. Wonder if there are any plans for developers to be able to add custom drag-drop elements like in Pagelines. (Mostly so we can have colored div's without resorting to code.)

This month I'm starting a big project I'm doing as a hybrid Shopify+Weebly site, and I SO wish I didn't have to do this hybrid thing. There are a few mission-critical features missing in this launch, but hopefully for my next project I can give this a go.

If you guys need any beta testers who have worked deep in small business e-commerce, please add me to the list!

Otherwise, just keep building out the e-commerce feature list until you get to "Shopify" level, and your platform will eat everyone for breakfast.

I know that quite a few people are complaining about the price of the business plan. But, for me, it seems to be a fairly good deal. I have been selling on eBay for years and their prices just keep rising. Just to have a storefront with them is now over $15 a month! I don't sell high-dollar items so their transaction fees eat me up. Weebly seems to be reasonably priced in my opinion. I'm excited to see this finally coming out! Maybe now I can really build a great online store!

I am trying to get past the disappointment of the cost being per site and not per account and am trying to work with it. I think it is not quite ready to go live as there are still issues that were noted during the beta.

I have entered my categories twice now and they are still not saving correctly, I have tried to use the importer both for Etsy and CSV from Ecwid and neither will work. The Etsy file loads and tells my only five products will be loaded unless I upgrade but then it does nothing.

I also prefer a vertical text list of categories rather than images but there is no option for that. I was also hoping that we would have options to offer both Stripe and PayPal so buyers have a choice. Any timeline for if and when this will be an option?

I will hold off making a decision for a few days at least until I can see if things will function properly. If there was a guarantee the CSV file would upload correctly from Ecwid I would jump on it today, I have over 1500 products and doing it manually just doesn't sound like fun :)

And indeed it may be so.

However the functionality of your current site page management (arrangement) tools are still in the stone age and not really suitable for commercial sites with more than 500 pages that are adding or adjusting more than 10 + products a day. For example the drag and drop feature for placing pages on a site is excessively time consuming and much more suitable for small websites of less than 100 pages.

Far better, for larger sites you want to attract, would be the ability to create folders / sections with pages given tick boxes so that we can select and move more than 1 page at time instead of going through the mind numbing process of dragging single pages through an endless scroll and then waiting for it to refresh before being able to make tweaks to the SEO panels.

Currently I have nearly 1500 pages and if I add a new product page it can take as long as 5 minutes just to slot it into it's relevant spot and thats not including the time it takes to tweak the SEO descriptions tags etc

Millions of sales per year is a wonderful aspiration for us. but really with such poor page management tools and missing SEO facilities such as H1 tags making us us have to work harder for Google Bing etc to rank us, I can't really see many potential million sales per year merchants flocking to the new commerce tools.

I came to Weebly because it had the basic ecommerce features which in the end I didn't use because they were not suitable for my UK based business model. What you have now is indeed a tempting move forward - sadly for me a very expensive one which I can't afford because many weeks I make no sales whatsoever through my niche product site. So I'll stick with Pro for now, besides even the thought of trying to adapt and convert up to 1500 product listing pages to use the new ecommerce tools makes me reach for the valium.

I wrote on three occasions to Weebly re the missing <h1> tabs and the first tech support person proceeded to explain how they work and I needed to "fix" any errors. Wrote back and explained that the error was not on my end - I had not "used" the <h1> tag in the first place - it was on the weebly side. Subsequent attempts to point out the issue resulted in the same rebuff and I was ignored. So glad I am not the only one who is getting reports from Google/Bing on the missing <h1> element tags.

2. Slotting files in the Edit Mode:
I have been having major issues losing pages while trying to slot pages, pages become "hidden" when they are not marked to be hidden, and I am having issues sliding some files "left" or "right" - they just refuse to budge. Again, I have a "long" list of files (not the 1500 you have), but enough that it has become very problematic

3. I did not use the Stores function at all as, from the onset - I felt if something went "wrong", I would not have control to "fix" as the programming was "built in". So I opted for individual buttons. I did write and ask if they were coming up with a solution to Google Checkout and they kept telling me they were - so I sat back and "waited". Little did I know that the solution was to be "in built" only into the Stores function - leaving the stand alone Google Check Out Buy It Now buttons still retiring, without a solution from Weebly, in two weeks.

4. I was very disappointed, also, that "Pro" and all the inbuilt hype that if we signed in we would be grandfathered - really did not apply to "all" but only "some". I never used Stores - therefore I was excluded from that grandfathered option. And, also, no option was offered for a previously touted and supported option - Google Checkout Buy It Now Buttons.

I really do appreciate Weebly - but the solution here has been offered to provide an economic engine to Weebly by bolstering the cash flow and it is target to users with a high volume of sales. It does not address a unique part of the web market: High inventory with Niche sales that are bolstered with brick and mortar stores - using the website as a "tool" more than a sales platform. Niche sales also encompass heavy or odd sized packages requiring "measurements and weight". A unique shipping module is a critical need across the board and not tied to the Shopping Cart model.

Also sticking to Pro, but not sure what that service entails now that we are relegated back to the platform with the "free" users. Service is about the same from what I can see.

Hoping Weebly can step back and identify the website users and redefine the model for low, middle, and high volume users.

I think it's great you are doing your best to improve the site. However, I personally think people should have been given the option to migrate to the new platform and in the meantime learn how to use the new shopfront features. I logged in to find the formatting of my products all over the place and have been trying for hours to try to revert back to the old format and work out how to use the new features because I cannot possibly leave my site in a mess. And I am not behind with other things. So not very happy about this to say the least.

I love Weebly. The service has been excellent over the last couple of months. It has been an exceptional steep learning curve for me, as I am doing all the work myself - for the first time ever. We have a Pro account and with all my research before we signed up with Weebly, this was still the best service for money of all the options available to us - even from local South African service providers.

I love you fee structure, but living in South Africa and the Rand/Dollar exchange rate being R10.24/$1 today, the fees start getting astronomical for us. $200 translate into R2480 for us. However, I have to add, this is still a good deal even compared to SA provider options. It is unfortunately more than we as a start-up company can afford.

All the planning on the online shop will now have to be shelved and re-thinked for a while. (Besides the fact I have to relearn all this stuff everybody is talking about above.:-)

Still, I am really glad we do not have to go to another site for all our needs and I am sure all the hitches will be worked out along the way. The service we have received from David and the team has been really awesome, considering we are more than 2 continents and a full hemisphere away.

I posted a comment on here yesterday, could you please tell me why it is not here today? There was no spam on it... it was merely my own concerns on what has happened regarding my own website... as I have said, I have only just upgraded to pro either last week or week before and now Weebly are expecting more money? It is not visable for so many of us, can't you see that? I have been a loyal customer for almost 2 years, I have renewed for a further 2 years and went pro only to now find out - I can only sell 5 products????? That honestly is so unfair!! What is the point of going pro? Please can you answer that instead of taking my comment off??? Like really Weebly... okay, this may be great to huge businesses however what about the smaller businesses? Have you really thought this through? Have you thought about the smaller businesses? I am so disappointed, I really am, if I had've known this was going to happen so quickly after I upgraded to "PRO" I will be honest, I wouldn't of upgraded, what is the point? I feel very upset at this point, I really do... I loved Weebly and everything about it... now? I don't know what's happening? Please explain to me, why upgrade to PRO now? What's the point, when all we can sell is 5 products??? I would be very grateful if you could answer my post and not delete it. Thank you.

I've read through all the posts and I'm still a little unclear on a few things. I apologize if this has all been touched on but after reading all the post I'm a little overwhelmed. Some questions....

1) As a grandfathered "Pro" user, does this ecommerce change affect our yearly fees? Are we going to be charged an additional $6.63 or will we continue to pay what we've been paying provided we don't upgrade to "Business". We paid our yearly dues in good faith and if we are being forced to pay an additional $79.96 for the same features we already had in addition to having the freedom to add as many as we need free of charge, we will have a problem. We are a small operation and the additional features with the "Business" upgrade are not needed at this time.

2) Are the plan fees per account or per site? This question has been asked before but I did not find a clear answer. I have 4 sites, two of which I use and publish. Does the additional cost apply to all 4 sites (4 x the additional costs) or just to our acct.?

3) Is the 3% listed on the plan options page a percentage paid in addition to what we would pay Paypal etc.? Example, if I sell a product and Paypal takes 2.9%, am I also paying Weebly 3% as well? Essentially 6% on each sale?

4) Is there anyway to turn off the store functionality and go back to the original item presentation and editing. Trying to fix items that have been messed up with the ecommerce change is proving to be time consuming and frustrating. It seems a lot of the user control has been removed. I have changes I need to make but am unwilling to publish as it will affect my page layouts negatively.

Dave; Not sure if you've already figured this out, but someone mentioned this above and it worked for me-you go to the 'store' tab, click 'display' and then scroll down and turn on 'Legend Mode'. This took my site fortunately back to the original layout.

However, in order to edit this version, you still have to learn the new edit mode/features and use the product list menu. But...the original design layout/configuration will show, so at least you will not have to re-do this. Also, you may need to re do your product title areas-play around with add to cart and see what description comes up for your products; the text being grabbed is somewhat randomly changing, depending on my products.

Good luck (to EVERYONE) with the changes....

Hi Chris! Thanks for commenting with your concerns. The new upgrades will not change the price of any existing services for you. You'll continue paying the same price for any subscriptions you currently have.

Business is a per-site upgrade (unlike grandfathered Pro). This means if you upgrade a site, only that site will have Business whereas the rest of your sites in your account will still have Pro.

The %3 fee only applies when using Stripe; we don't charge a %3 fee for using PayPal.

And finally there isn't a way to turn off the Store, but you can have your products display the way they used to by going to Store > Display and turning on "Legacy Mode". You'll still need to manage your shop through the store, but the product elements on your site will look like they did before the update.

I have a Storenvy shop (which is free) and was really excited to see this ecommerce feature come up through Weebly for the simple fact that it would be really nice not to have to update in several different places.

After doing the research, however, I will be sticking with my Storenvy shop. For someone who only has about 160 orders a year, $500 is far too much to spend when I can get it for free elsewhere.

Pretty disappointed in the price point on this.

This is most certainly NOT small business friendly. Let me know when it is!

I believe this is a great robust service and nearly worth the $19 for those who would utilize all of its features. I understand Weebly needs to cover its R&D. Weebly is in business to make a profit, but so am I, and as others have commented here, the price is too steep for low-volume vendors. I have two Weebly websites: one for my consulting business and a second for a site I'm still developing. When I purchased the second website from Weebly, I was planning to sell an eBook available via download. Since I only have one product, and sales will be low, it's unlikely I'll be able to recoup the investment if I pay $19+/mo. more than I'm currently paying. (I am a pro user.) So I'm going to be researching other options. My recommendation to Weebly would be to offer a sliding payment scale based on sales volume. That way, everybody wins.

Highly disappointed that first the chat is no longer connected, not that they answered me yesterday and second not one question has been answered in almost 24 hours. I signed up for a test drive and paid the 1 month fee to get the 33% discount but big shock. This 33% is good for one month only. After the 1st month, you have to pay regular rate of $29. #Pathetic to say the least. This is very misleading and not professional at all. Many flaws in this system and no one seems to be listening to our needs. I have been with Weebly for years and years and have 15 websites. I have never ever seen such baloney before.

I am absolutely steaming. In good faith I purchased from you a platform for my own work and the right to use your tools to do so. Like a great many of your customers I have spent countless hours setting up my web site look and behave the way I want it to.
How is it that you have made changes my web site with neither my permission or knowledge. We are customers, not employees or beta testers for your business ideas. This high-handed behaviour is unacceptable. As per many customer on the Pro plan I feel that I should be able to trust that my web sites should only be change by me.
I should have been given the opportunity to opt-in to the new business plan –not be forced to spend time trying to find a way to opt-out! Despite what your programmers may have said it is NOT easy, it is NOT clear and it is certainly NOT a good use of my valuable time. I am still trying to find out how to do it.
While I only sell a small number of items from my site a limit of 5 is ludicrous. I was in the process of creating a small but proper on-line shop – but cannot possibly afford the fees you now require.
I too have removed the automatic renewal for my account and hope that this issue is satisfactorily resolved, and soon.
The sad thing is I was delighted with Weebly, I loved working with the Weebly tools and creating something I felt happy with, but knowing that you feel you have the right to change my work as and when you see fit has really shaken my trust in you.

One of my projects allows participants to collect points and use these points like cash to purchase partner items. Is there a way to incorporate this into a store front. ie: pay with points not cash

Love the interface to this, and the main thing I think is missing is integration with a mailing list. If Weebly doesn't allow us to mail past customers (which would be worth another $10/month), it should integrate with some of the popular mailing systems out there ... and add in the new (and my favorite) RocketResponder. Not being able to reach past customers is a big waste of an initial sale to someone. Thanks.

I reverted back to the BUY IT instead of ADD to CART. #1Since then, my flat rate shipping cost does not show in checkout; how can I correct that? #2 I want to accept PayPal only, and do not want the Credit Card option to show; how do I correct that?

I have the same question/issue-in my cart, it says 'check out' and then says 'or pay with pay pal' but when you hit check out, it just goes to paypal b/c that is what i am doing. But it gives customers the illusion, just for a moment, that they have a choice adn that is confusing and unprofessional! Please fix weebly for those who are using paypal only and not using your shopping cart. Thanks.

Hi D.A. and Irm! Currently when you have your store set to Buy Product, it will (if you have shipping options) take you to a checkout page on your site first. This is so that it can use the correct shipping before sending the order to PayPal to complete the purchase.

As for the "or pay with paypal" button, you shouldn't see that on your checkout page. If you are, please go to help.weebly.com and get in touch with us so we can assist.

I was happy with the easy UI on the previous free version of Weebly I was using....mostly showcasing and selling maybe 1 or 2 of my 30 craft items listed in a given month, linked directly to my paypal cart/account.

As an existing free user, the FAQs claim that all of my existing settings/privileges will be retained....so is the 5 product limit just for people who sign up on Weebly after the e-commerce launch yesterday?

I'm not seeing any restraints to my product addition capability at this time...but I am also not having any luck enabling the "legacy" userfront to add/edit products like I used to.

Sorry to hear the problems it is causing so many people :(

Unfortunately those of us that are and have been pro since the start- who only had 1 or 2 items, or under 5 on the store before the launch we aren't grandfathered in. At least for us over here we aren't. It's asking us to pay either 29 a month or 299 for 1 year.

For those who had over 5 products that they were selling, they are grandfathered in and should be allowed to have unlimited product listings.

Artara- Yes exactly. I think that's why so many aren't happy. In my opinion the prices are perfect especially since the prices are right in line with most eCommerce platforms (third party)- but those of us who just had less than 5, or have had pro since the beginning of years ago- we aren't grandfathered into the new features.

Unfortunately we just do not have the extra 300 a year (per website) to fund for an eCommerce store, and since we are a small business that sometimes sells little things here and there it's just not feasible.

So, if your customers don't READ your blog they have no way of knowing you've just made major changes. Sure they are great new features, ones I was looking at in other places and decided it wasn't in my current budget which is why I went with you. I go to make updates and changes, by the way, my time is limited, now I can't make those changes in the time I had set aside, I have to relearn how or even if I can.
I email a month ago saying "make your changes before this date" or you're "Ship High In Transit" out of luck, would have been nice.

How do you change the font size in the product listings now? I'm showing bullets, bold, italics, but no way to increase or decrease the text in the product block? I reverted to Legend to use my old template and keep my layout the same rather than have to spend days re configuring my products...but I still need to re-do many because when added to the cart, the text it grabs is not the same as before.
I do not see a way to change font size for product carts???

Hi again Irm! To change the fonts for products, go to Design > Change Fonts, and check out the Paragraph Title and Paragraph Text options. Keep in mind though that this will also affect the rest of the paragraph titles and text on your site. Hope that helps!

Sorry if this has been answered, but I don´t have time to read through all of the 250 or so comments on the new ecommerce changes...The FAQ states "

What if I have an existing store on Weebly?

We’re launching a Business plan that has different limits than what we’ve offered in the past, but rest assured that nothing will change for you -- all of your existing functionality, including PayPal integration and unlimited products, will remain the same and your account will be “grandfathered”.

I tried to add a new product to my site today and was told that I would have to update from my "starter" plan to a "pro" plan, and even that would only give me 25 products and I have over a hundred currently. "all of your existing functionality, including ... unlimited products, will remain the same.

When can we expect that this will be fixed?

I have been looking at the products listing again and it seems I now have 10 free products included with my starter package. That is helping a lot. Thanks Weebly :-). I wish there would be an option to purchase a few more without buying the full biz package. How about adding an additional option. There is a wide gap between "unlimited products" and "up to 25" in biz. I really think you would attract a lot of the smaller businesses by offering "up to 100".

Also, it looks to me that the SKUs are set up for clothing. As a jewelry maker I need a rather larger sizing list (full, half and quarter sizes between 1 and 20). I hope there will be more options, ideally prepopulated for other article types such as jewelry. I would also need a text box where people can enter the inscription they would like on their jewelry.

Also, question. If I upgrade from starter to Pro, will I loose my Grandfather status?

Hi! If you upgrade to Pro you will retain your Grandfathered status.

As for setting up options and SKUs, you can label your options any way that you like as well as your SKUs. For example, you could add an option called "Size", then add an SKU for each ring size from 1 - 20, then add a second option called "Size Option" with SKUs for full, half, and quarter. This would cut down on the number of SKUs you'd need to make. Hope that helps!

I have read through all of the blog comments and just logged into our school site to experiment with the new commerce add-ons. (www.tbssfamily.org)

First let me say that our school is relatively new to Weebly coming in this past August and we have a pro account. We all love it for it's simplicity of use where all of our teachers are able to easily blog classroom happenings (awesome!). It is a snap to add new pages, create pages for our fundraisers, have a small amount of "products", limit editors to certain pages, etc. Weebly was definitely the answer to our online needs. Thank you for that!

I now have a few questions on how the new e-commerce affects how we use Weebly.
1) We have only a few items 7 currently on our site for our parents to sponsor our Jogathon and for school spirit t-shirts. My understanding from the plan comparison chart is that Weebly will now be taking 3% of our items (the sponsorships) in addition to the fees charged by PayPal? So in essence our school will be losing up to 6% of fundraising if we use our Weebly site? OR is it that since our school uses PayPal checkout cart, we only incur PayPal charges?
2) If I add more items for a future fundraiser, our school would need to become a business client? If so, then we will no longer be able to use the service as it would be cost prohibitive.
3) I tried putting us in legacy mode to eliminate the cart in our menu bar- but our website lost its theme and formatting. - so not sure what to do.
4) For our needs all the extra ecommerce items that were added, such as the SSL, Inventory, Coupons, etc. don't make any sense for us. We are a simple basic client with the need to place mostly fundraising items on our site for our school families' convenience. It would be helpful to have a tiered business platform, if needing to make a change.
5) Tried dragging a new product onto one of my pages and was unable to.

Again, I love your platform for its ease of use, and the ability for us to have a homepage for our school families. I loved being able to place a small amount of items on our fundraising pages as a convenience for our school families. I'm just unsure how to proceed from here. It does seem like we are now getting less than we signed up for in August with the new change. It was one of the reasons we went with Weebly. I don't want to spend too much time experimenting until I understand how we fit in to the new ecommerce (also read about "grandfathering" in, for how long?).

Hi Sandy! I'm sure you've heard back from support, but I'll answer your questions in case anyone else would like to know:

1. There is no additional fees for using PayPal; the only fee you'll have is PayPal's own fees.

2. Since you already had products you've been grandfathered and can add an unlimited number of products without upgrading.

3. To remove the cart, go to Store > Settings > General and change the store mode to "Buy Product".

4. If you don't have a need for the features that the Business plan provides, you're more than welcome to continue using the current e-commerce features without upgrading.

5. Adding products has changed a bit. You'll first want to go to Store > Products, and create your product there. You'll then want to go to the page where you wanted to display your product and drag a product element to the page, then connect to the product that you just created: http://kb.weebly.com/add-products.html

Hi Ralph! The reason you're seeing checkout.weebly.com is because the checkout is using SSL for security. SSL is domain specific, so without upgrading to Business and enabling the option (which generates one for your specific site address), we use that specific address to provide the security. I hope that helps clarify it a bit better!

I love the idea, but kind of bummed that people that have been here an extremely long time don't get all of this included. My sites won't generate enough to justify the upgrade. Now I'm getting a little worried that any future updates will require "Upgraded" accounts too. I've put a lot of time and money into Weebly and I've seen it before where companies say we're thankful for all those who have been here from the beginning, we won't forget you. Then when they're big and popular they're like... well guys pay up.
I have been a long time user and love everything Weebly has to offer, just wanted to voice my opinion. Sorry my comment sounds negative, its been a long day and then I see that I have to upgrade to get something like digital download sales is a downer. In choosing the image proportions there seems no flexibility in having different proportions in the same shopfront. Some products just do not work square, 4x3 or 3x4...and the original uploads in the great multiple picture feature per product do not allow for a different proportion either. Could original proportion be an option to choose? Maybe with set width or height to make it look better?

If you're using Product elements on other parts of your site, you can go to Store > Settings > Display and turn on Legacy Mode. This will display the product elements as they were before the upgrade and could help.

Would it be possible to use an order form withing the new e-commerce tools. In a way that if you purchase a certain product or service, you will need to leave more details in addition to shipping address. So create an order form with all the Weebly form building options AND payment options. Without having to go third-party options. Would be awesome!

I signed up for Weebly a couple of years back because after much research I found it was user friendly to "websites for dummies" users like me. I have five websites with Weebly, one a small ecommerce site, Three informational ones and just in the process of building another small e-commerce site which would have had maybe 25 products at the most. Now I find out that in order to finish that site I must upgrade for what I consider a huge fee for the small amount of business I would do. In addition my other e commerce site has now pictures of my artwork which no longer fit in the designated space for them and now I have to spend another day getting that sorted. I can't find the "Legend button" either. So much for getting my other site up and running before Christmas as it is not financially viable, plus I don't need all the fancy features. So much for user friendly. Nice go Weebly and why weren't emails sent out to warn us of all of this.

Hi Kathy! Depending on your needs you may need to upgrade to finish your site (if for example you were limited by how many products, you can be grandfathered to unlimited products by contacting us at [email protected] before the 21st). As for the display of your product elements, you'll want to go to Store > Settings > Display, scroll down and turn on the Legacy Mode option, and then save. That will display your product elements as they were prior to the update. Hope that helps!

So many things going wrong right now :/

I'm a Pro user. Since update ,
Can't add any products without getting an option of "Connect Product"
The legacy mode on , and still doesn't change the the old style of product design.

Really bummed from these changes and hopefully there is another update soon , if this is how the Pro is going to be from now on then definitely not renewing my subscription.

Hi Daniel! The way that you add products has changed a bit. You can either first go to Store > Products and then create your product and then connect to it with the Product element, or when you drag the Product element to a page, click on the New Product button you see in the upper right of the popup window.

As for Legacy Mode, make sure to save after setting that option and then republish the site.

Checks out payment options are only three and most important, you are giving only credit card. While ecwid is providing so many options like below
* phone ordering
*Wire transfer
*Pay by check
*Pay by bank
*Pay by COD
*Pay by Invoicing

I am really interested in weebly because weebly always listen to customers. I appreciate weebly but my customers only pay by above options. Can you advise what we should do and when you will add another check out options?

HI Haram! We don't currently support payment by those methods, yes, though if you choose PayPal as your checkout provider they do allow people to pay via their PayPal account (which does support adding funds through methods other than credit card).

(shaking my head) I really like working with Weebly. It's been a great learning expirience and I enjoy the creative process in setting up our sites. It's a lot of work but it's rewarding and some days I looked forward to it.

Now, I log into Weebly and I feel anxiety about it. To make promises only to "bait and switch", to alter our websites w/o our consent and just screwing those who have supported weebly for a long time is just flat out wrong. Not feeling "lots of Weeebly love".

Feeling pretty angry and dissapointed that all the work we did last week to get our site jutst the way we like it is all messed up now.

Currently reviewing other options. If I'm going to be giving money away that I can't afford to give away I'd just as soon do it with an outfit that is upfront about it than give it to one that screws me.

Because GoogleWallet is shutting down, I just spent a month comparing and trying out several e-commerce options. I ended up going with Shopify even though I'm not using their website features, because I would prefer to keep my website with Weebly. I will probably end up switching to the Weebly e-commerce, but it would have saved me time and money if I knew months ago that I would have this option before GoogleWallet officially shut down.

Given that Weebly has stopped responding to questions about the 3% transaction fee on Starter and Pro plan sites, it's a decent guess that everyone's mulling it over a bit more. First, let's be clear that this is a fee on top of the fee you pay to your payment processor. So, for example, you'd add 3% to the 2.9% +30 cent fee you already pay to PayPal to handle the payment processing which would yield a total transaction fee of close to 6%. CEO, David Rusenko, indicates in this blog that no existing Starter/Pro plan user of Weebly's e-commerce feature will incur the new transaction fee (they are in effect grandfathered into the free pricing of the previous drag-and-drop e-commerce elements). Presumably, this means that new Starter and Pro plan users will incur the additional 3% fee on top of their payment processor fee if they use the Weebly e-commerce functionality even within the store product limits (10 product limit for Starter, 25 product limit for Pro) and the limited functionality (no inventory management, no digital goods, no shipping & tax calculator, and presumably no coupon codes when that functionality becomes available). If a Weebly user plugs in the free version of Ecwid, they will have a limit of 10 products in their store. There are no transaction fees and there is some additional functionality over the Weebly e-commerce component (discrete shopping bag icon versus Weebly's "Cart" item shoehorned into the page navigator, more product options, considerably more payment processor options, nominal inventory control, checkout within domain). The only significant functionality that appears absent in their free plan is discount codes. Ecwid is rather simple to implement although it's a bit of a process to customize their CSS if you want your store to appear seamlessly integrated into your site (e.g., same font style, font size, font colors, custom buttons, custom bag icon, etc.). Like Weebly's e-commerce back-end functionality, the Ecwid product and category management is exceedingly intuitive. So, for stores of 10 items or less, it would appear that Ecwid is pretty much the clear choice from a transaction fee and functionality perspective. For Pro users who have between 10 and 25 products in their store, the choice depends on sales. Ecwid's Venture plan provides up to 100 products and costs about $12.50 per month (and includes the discount code functionality). If a Pro user's total monthly store sales is substantively less than about $400, Weebly's e-commerce is a less expensive choice even with the extra 3% transaction fee (3% of sales will be less than Ecwid's fixed $12.50 monthly fee). Monthly sales of around $400 or more, make Ecwid the better choice and you get the discount code functionality included. Ultimately, it might have been best to have just provided both the Starter and Pro plans a looky loo 10 product limit with no transaction fee and some limits on functionality. Folks who like the e-commerce functionality would be compelled to upgrade to the Business plan to get the extra functionality and remove the product limit.

Across the board, there seems to be a misconception that you "have to" sign up for this Shopping Cart. It is an "option", you can still offer "Buy It Now" buttons from PayPal or Amazon (and others) and insert them yourself view the Embedded Code Module.

While the Shopping cart has a mile of bells and whistles - unless you have large inventory and high sales, there is little need for most of the bells and whistles being offered if you have niche sales, low volume per month for sales, and one of a kind items. If you can drive a Chevrolet to the bank, you do not need to buy a Cadillac to do the same job.

For me, changing my entire inventory over to the Shopping Cart is an daunting task, so, I am just going to find a replacement for the Google Checkout "Buy It Now" button and just manually change those.

Personally, I believe most need to just "breathe" and look at the Shopping Cart and the Manual Option for Buy It now buttons.

Personally, I would like to see a Shipping Module offered outside the Shopping Cart. That would be helpful and alleviate most of the ruckus. As these small sellers "grow", then they can upgrade to the "big boy" Shopping Cart.

If they could separate the chaff from the straw, better define who needs the Shopping Cart and who does not - it would alleviate the enormous pressure on Tech Support right now.

Using PayPal's own very flexible payment buttons, view cart code, and shipping/tax rate configuration utility can yield a perfectly decent online shop (particularly when paired with Weebly's excellent image/slideshow and text elements). As you say, for small shops or shops with low monthly sales there's no compelling need for sophisticated product management functionality and the pure PayPal approach is a perfectly sufficient solution to building that sort of online shop. From my perspective, Weebly has introduced what will undoubtedly become a lovely e-commerce solution for any size store. I'm puzzled by the imposition of their own 3% transaction fee on product sales within (new) Starter or Pro sites if you use that e-commerce solution. I would have thought that it would be a great way to market the power of their solution by offering a limited products shop with perhaps some limits on functionality. I mentioned Ecwid because it appears that they realized that, by giving users a pretty full taste of the service with their permanently free 10-product store solution (which imposes no transaction fee on top of the payment processor fee), the probability of the user upgrading to one of their paid services at some point in the future would be reasonably high. I'm sure Weebly took the same view with the folks who use their free site hosting solution now that they've quite correctly required an upgrade to either the Starter or Pro plans in order to allow attachment of a custom domain to the site.

The down side to the PayPal buttons is the amount of time to configure each product, create the button, copy the code and drop it into the Weebly site. And if you have a little mistake, like a typo you missed the first time around, you have to go through the process again of creating the button, copying and pasting. Even if you have only a few products, but those are constantly changing, as in my case where many items are one-of-a-kind creations, the time involved is great. The eCommerce options Weebly has integrated will alleviate that time issue and much of the headache, but the cost is prohibitive under the Business Plan option. I understand Weebly can't give us everything for free, but I think the vast difference between the Pro and Business plan options where product limits are concerned considering the price of the Business Plan is a real turn off. Since they are charging 3% for Pro users, why not give us a much higher product limit with that charge and then let us decide when the amount of sales makes it more cost productive to switch to the Business Plan. That would keep all the site owner activitiy in one place, Weebly earns their cut for providing us with a wonderful service, and we have more options and a little more control. I would think this could cover the options of shipping and tax configuration for Pro users, too. If not, maybe there could be a small 'per add on' fee for those options.

Yes, agree, it is frustrating as you have to cut and paste the code onto every item. But, on the other hand, can you imagine moving a website over to the Shopping Cart if you have 250 plus items? Way way more complicated that copying and pasting code - and the Amazon Code Creator is very easy to use.

Since I have such niche items, some with complicated shipping options due to size and weight - I usually communicate with all my customers before they purchase anyway. Except for the lady that bought a thousand dollar painting that was five foot long - who then wondered if I would "drive it to her". Yup, right on that...grinning. She did drive down to pick up her piece and all was well. But, again, with niche unique items - every sale requires communication. So, one at a time Buy It Now Buttons works just fine for me.

A shipping calculator would be wonderful - I do not need it meshed into the sale. Just want my customers to know and understand what their shipping costs may be. I have asked if that is possible in the future, but I have not got an answer on that yet.

Is there any way of suppressing the need to enter address information after selecting Buy Now? I am using Paypal for payment for digital content. I do not want my clients to now have to enter a shipping address when this is not relevant to my product.

I am continuing to use the legacy version because I cannot afford the high price for the Business plan at this point. But forcing my customers to enter address information is a disincentive to purchase so I need this removed very quickly!

I have a grandfathered pro plan (10 sites available) and run 3 commerce sites from it.
I have to agree, the pricing for the Business Plan is ridiculous for the low volume and/or newbee seller and the short term discount doesn't offer much opportunity to test things out. Like, I could only afford a month's worth right now, but then I'm paying a LOT after that to keep that plan.
I love the changes Weebly has made to give eCommerce options, but keeping shipping and tax adjustments at a Business Plan level, pretty much requires everyone sign up for that. Seriously, everyone who sells has to ship and our customers want the skinny on those options when they buy. If we can't offer it without the upgrade, we are the ones getting stuck. I'm setting things up on my Wedding site so I can sell from there even without the Business Plan because using Cashie was getting to be a pain, but I need more of the features at a lower cost.
Please, make things more reasonable financially. I love, love, love Weebly, but if I can't afford it...

To be honest.I am freaking out. This is my biggest season and I just sent out a huge holiday mailer directing potentialy thousands of new customers to my website for the first time. Currently all of my photos in my version are only a small snip of the photo. The words are all over the place and have so many spaces. I am afraid to change anything as it may not go back to how it was origionally. I am so frustrated right now. I tried to enable the legacy mode and it doesn't engage. WHAT I NEED IMMEDIATLY IS TO BE ABLE TO ADD NEW PRODUCT, HAVE ALL MY PHOTOS SHOW THE ENTIRE SHOT AND HAVE THE WORDS APPEAR NEAT AND TIDY. PLEASE HELP ME ! I can not publish my website without all these horrible mistakes showing onto the published version. I need to add product. I appreciate any help I can give.

I purchased the business plan and got all my products and categories, added the store to a page and had 3 customers purchase something tonight. NONE of them receive an email with a download link. And YES, I rechecked to be sure I uploaded zip file downloads to all my products. NOTHING! They got a paypal receipt but no email with a download link. HELP!!!! This is bad for business. :(

I don't no why I am writing here :( I have had only problems since Friday an NO HELP even though I posted and written everywhere. Sent screen shots, everything. NO HELP. I even was so desperate I upgraded to Business for 2 years spending an awful lot of money, just to read they decided AFTER THAT that I wouöd be grand fathered anyhow. Weebly had no problem taking my money right away. But they won't help me. I have had to close down the shop for now. Just when Christmas shopping starts. :(
Main issues:
- on product pages I can't change from weebly's own photo (ugly basebool shoes!). I edit, upload, OK, save (and everything looks ilke it's going well) but the the baseboll shoes turn up anyhow!
- on first page, Storefront page, I want 4 pics in a row for categories (works fine) and 6 pictures per row under that. I choose, save, and only 5 shows up per row. With an emy ugly space where the 6th should be.
- shipping is added very randomly. I have added all the ifo need, weight stuff and everything. But sometimes it show up, sometimes not. When I try to buy myself through PayPal just to check it, sometimes there shows up NO shipping coast at all! I am afraid I will sell stuff and have to pay fir shipping myself, once again, I had to close it all for now! NOONE answers me. I get automated mails they are looking at it. Thats's all.

I love the new look and feel, yes it taking me time to implement all my new products on the e-commerce section but it looks much more professional, which is what I always wanted for my store. Its a much needed update!
I upgraded last month to Pro and have just upgraded again to business however, the $29 a month price is great compared to some that I have been with, especially when you start adding things like SSL, then the price can sky rocket. I understand other people's concern if they are a low seller but if you go with another provider you will be paying a hell of a lot more!! I know we did.
I am happy with everything so far and love the cart on the website: (paypal used to take customers away from the page to view previously) and the httpS when checking out. my site is much more secure (I believe so and I'm sure customers do too).
I do have some small questions regarding upgrading to my own SSL etc. but just wanted to say; I love it! thanks guys :) x

I love Weebly, BUT:

- The high price is a big disappointment. I did and want to support you guys, but I admired you deeply for your affordable prices and good services. Support is not that great these days and the price is too high -support should be lightning fast for such price!

- Looks like the Business plan is per website and not per account. Truly, absurd! I wouldn't expect that in a million years.

- Once we list the product as "physical" or "digital", it is impossible to change it. What??? For $20/mo, I'd expect more control than that.

- Transferring listings from Etsy was easy. Great. Then I hit the wall again -can't change the "product type". Really???

- I'm glad my business can afford this much yearly. But for all others who can't, something in the between would be great. 5 products is too little, $20/mo is too much. Maybe a $6-$10/mo plan that supports 30-50 products would be nice.

As some said before, it's a truly bitter-sweet change. The improvement was nice, but not sure if worth the $20/mo. The only reason I chose to sign up for 2 years on Weebly instead of Squarespace, is because I've been with Weebly for years and chose to support you guys. I do hope to not regret and see even more improvements soon.

Was really hoping that Weebly's eComerce would include service industries too. We've been looking for a way that our clients can pay for selected services (with credit or debit card) from our website as an alternative to Paypal, and Paypal Here and Square which don't always work. I have a smaller website with niche items - I opted to install Amazon Buy It Now Buttons. They have a shipping module that is weight sensitive and, most important - they have an "UpSell" option you can opt into that is for either your items only or Amazon items also. I opted for my items only. Big Big plus for me.

Hi! While we don't have a Services option currently, this is something we're working on. For the time being you can use a physical product for your services. While you're not actually shipping a product, you can still label the product appropriately for the service.

I have been waiting to see if Weebly would create these items.
I sell my digital art online as designer resources in digital files. I have been searching for a way to sell my digital files on my own Weebly site with automatic delivery for nearly 5 months.

None of the options I have found have been ideal, and even weebly seems to be missing some of the things I really wanted out of this service, but when I logged on today and saw this I nearly jumped for joy! It is as if Weebly has read my mind!

And then I saw the price... total boner kill, my search continues...

I'm upset about these new changes, also. Weebly just turned into another site that has become greedy, built itself on the backs of their loyal customers, and, now, is charging for services (I know, some are, supposedly, new) that used to be free. And, wanting to charge customers that had shared, and made, Weebly what they are, today. I guess, that I, too, have to look for another site, that is feasible for me, and my small online business. I am very disappointed in you, Weebly; and sorry that I got, and was, even, trying to get you new customers. Now, I need to backtrack; and try to get the word out, that Weebly is NOT what I described it to be. And, try to let people know of these changes. And, I had just renewed my PRO account. That is a lot of money, for me; and I wish that I was keeping up with what your latest plans were ... which turned out to be negative, for me. I was planning to re-vamp a new online store; why I took down my old one.

If you read their blog, you can see that all you have to do is email them and they will "grandfather" you to the unlimited products. You can keep your site exactly the same... these are only new features. If you want customers to checkout on your website, then upgrade... This post really makes me mad because this person hasn't done their reading.

Hi Sharon! I'm sorry that the changes were upsetting for you! We put a lot of thought into both the features and the pricing, and it was never our intention to disappoint any of our customers. Depending on what your needs are you may not need to upgrade to Business. If you had products on your site prior to the commerce upgrade, you've been grandfathered in and can therefore add an unlimited number of products. I hope that you'll give us a chance and check out the new features, many of which you can use without needing to upgrade.

I have 2 problems:

1. The modifiers are not consistent in the Checkout - sometimes they work, other times they don't. I have worked a little around this by rearranging the modifiers - then they sometimes work. Please fix!

2. There is no way to export orders into a spreadsheet... with tax breakdown... really important so I can pay the gov't (I am sure this was just overlooked and it will be a feature quickly)

I really need a text box where buyers can leave the inscriptions they want on their jewelry. I looked for a text box and found there is none anywhere available during the order or checkout process.

A box similar to "Notes to seller: " during the checkout would really be helpful.

I cannot start selling on Weebly until I have sales tax taken care of. Telling us only that sales tax is "fine-grained" really isn't telling us very much.
Is the Business plan going to provide us with free sales tax calculations. These have to be precise down to the zip+4 level, and could even change daily, relative to "sales-tax holidays. Will it handle tax remittance as well, and keep tax totals in a file somewhere ? Honestly, good handling of sales tax would more than justify the $20 price.
Also it would be good to mention that clients may very well be able to import products from INVENTORY SOURCE www.inventorysource.com since they export as Shopify .csv format, and also your system should be able to import shopify .csv files generated by DOBA as well. this is MAJOR functionality which has not been mentioned.

Hi Nikato! Thanks for commenting! The Business plan allows for a lot of control over taxes. You enter in a zip code and it will automatically add tax for orders placed from that State as well as local tax for that particular zip code. These tax rates are set automatically so you don't need to worry about updating them.

As for importing from Inventory Source and DOBA- thanks for pointing that out!

OK Adam, I removed the cart button. But, when you now click buy button. IT does not add product to my paypal cart anymore..... This is a big problem. I want to keep using the paypal pro merchant cart and not the weebly cart... The paypal pro merchant cart is a better looking and working cart for CC purchase from my customers. And I have many paypal coded buy now buttons in use that add to paypal cart.... I have 7 other weebly sites that use this paypal cart as well so it is very important I get the weebly back to how it work before your update. If you want to see a before and after how site is not working. Go to my www.utvparts.biz (has not been updated and works). After your update (I logged in and it updated) go to www.snowmobileparts.biz which is not working correctly any more and needs to be reset back to pre update mode.

Also on my www.solasimpellers.com page which has the update. When you click Buy now. It goes to a blank page like its timing out. And half of my images are gone.
I reported these issue's to weebly yesterday morning but have not heard back yet...

Having just returned from New York, I thought I was all thrilled out. Then
I see Weebly has gone all shoppy! All mobile shoppy, at that!

Weebly has come of age and fulfills leading edge requirements for today's mobile-centric online shoppers. There are a thousand and one ways to build a website but Weebly's continuous improvement means it continues to be our vehicle of choice. To the extent that the fully loaded model seems expensive, this is by comparison to a lesser Weebly, where Weebly has recently come from - not by comparison to other solutions. Whereas we had needed to promote alternatives for fully featured online shopping, we no longer need to and can even offer our clients a seamless path to ecommerce on our platform of choice.

However, this will be our dream solution only when we can port a full online shop from its current place across to the Designer Platform and thus allow clients to manage their shops in a white label environment.

Other designers we talk to and work with agree and eagerly await the opportunity to work with Business Plans on Designer.

I know this is not the majority market but it does represent a fair number of clients who see twenty bucks a month as a brilliant value for what's on offer. Business with full ecommerce on Designer would fulfill the Weebly promise we see all over the web these days: "A CMS your clients can actually use".

Love the way it's heading and looking forward to taking advantage of the full potential on Designer rather than inviting ecommerce clients to Weebly as editors.

I've been with Weebly for years, and I am so excited to go to your Business plan. I truly believe we have to pay for quality and consistency and ingenuity.People often try to blurr the lines in everything in order to make thier own rules or squeeze a discount. Business is business, not a game to be confused with hobbies.
Thank you for choosing to draw the line and make a distinction, I can now walk away happily from an e commerce website im having built in Mumbai for 1 year now. Yours has to be easier than Mumbai.

It looks like Weebly is doing a fantastic job of dealing with questions about all the new features and responding to all the negativity. I am VERY appreciative of the new features and being grandfathered in as a previous user. My only concern right now is the different views of images that show up in different browsers, and that the lightbox with its associated features has gone away. I haven't seen Weebly's response to this yet. Has there been one? (My apologies if I missed it.)

I will stay with my free site and continue on sale. I suddenly realized why I have left this site site dormant for so long. I am taking my domain and bailing.

Glad I am grandfathered in - but - not having a shipping option might be a deal killer for me.
I still think that having a limited amount of product with full functionality would be preferable over having unlimited product but not having critical functionality like shipping and tax calculator.

My current issues:
- I have to do free shipping on all items, or include shipping in the price.
- I have to pay the WA state sales tax myself. Not good.
- I cannot prevent international orders even though I do not ship internationally because I do not have shipping options unless I sign up for business
- My buyers cannot leave all information needed for their order because the limited product options. An open text field would allow for a work around, but that is currently not an option.

I have the business plan. So you are not better upgrading., It shows an inventory tracker, and add tax, which it does. but the shipping required option does not appear, and it is hit and miss if it adds the tax. While I deal with soaps etc,,a small box can be over 2 lbs. Over 7.00 to ship when That was my profit. So I work for free. I tried following the article to connect Paypal shipping. NOPE still does not calculate it. I tried adding reg mail and priority. NO nothing shows up, I have not shipping required button to check. How the hell is this missing but the other 2 items are there. UGH, I was with Ipower for 13 years, I went weebly as I can pay it monthly. vs yearly. Yep ready to take my goods and go back to home.

Hi! I'm sorry you've had some issues setting up shipping options! One thing to make sure of is that you're setting the weight for each product. If you set up your shipping options based on weight but haven't assigned a weight for the products themselves, it won't calculate the proper shipping price. There is no shipping. So sadly, that does not work. There is Nothing there to add shipping to a product ! I have went ounce by ounce even Nothing makes the shipping appear

1. The best part about all of this - is that, finally, I can peruse other websites in Weebly. What a trip through wonderland! Weebly, you really should expand on this accessibility to fellow users.

2. I really was disappointed in that the "new" eCommerce meant I have to rebuild my site entirely around the Shopping cart. An enormous task from my standpoint. So, while I am grandfathered in - it is unlikely that I will port over. My site is working great using the embedded code module and I use Amazon Payments. Amazon has a shipping module and they have an "Up Sell" option which I love ie. potential customers are presented other similar items of "mine" while in buying on my site.

3. Reading through the blog, it appears there are still critical issues with the upgrade to the new shopping cart. Major software issues that are catastrophic. There is no running list of what is being worked on or "what are known issues". Sure would help if Weebly had such a page of their own.

4. For me, the Pro access to the ECommerce cart is more than fair. Honestly, if I did change over, I did not need all those bells and whistles for my niche items anyway. I think the "Pro" price for access to the shopping cart is more than fair. For those grandfathered in- a super deal.

5. I would have liked to have access to the Shipping Module outside the shoppling cart - not for shipping, but for my customers to check on the cost of shipping (and me too as I have to quote all my shipping manually on my difficult to ship items).

6 For those pitching in to help those flailing with this upgrade. My hats off to you - good job and thank you.

7. I am not having issues with Technical Support. They are getting back to me within 24 hours. Maybe its because I am dealing with the same person. She even got back to me around 7am one morning - that is service. The problems - all mine, not theirs. But, I got a handle on what was going on and fixed the issue. I need "smaller" pages as the tables take up a mile of memory/space.

In closing - Weebly, get up a Support page of known issues and stop the circling on this Blog. It would be so easy to do. Does not even have to have a comment access for users. Just an up-to-date place for us to keep up with the issues as this is all resolved.

Rally on Weebly, this can only get better !

I have been looking at your integrated shipping calculator and am finding it very frustrating that you are not able to add your own regions. I am an Australian user of Weebly and there are no regions to select that meet my needs. Is there a way that I can input/create my own regions to cover the states of Australia that way it will calculate the shipping correctly based on the delivery address of the buyer rather than me relying on the customer to correctly select their state as an additional option to calculate shipping. there is alot of room for error with this option that could potentialy leave me out of pocket if the incorrect state is seleceted and shipping is calcualted a lesser rate,

Hi Kerrie! We don't currently have sub-regions for Australia like we do for certain other regions, but thanks for suggesting that! You might want to in the meantime come up with a shipping charge that would cover shipping anyway within Australia so you know you'll be able to cover the expense regardless of where in Australia your customer is.

I have just upgraded to try out your new store...
It looks great, but there is no way I can offer customers coupons/% off! Please tell me I am wrong :-)
Also, a 'coming soon' button like big cartel has would be ace for crafters.

Hi Elaine! Coupon codes are in the works - stay tuned! As for a coming soon option; you could make a separate page and use a combination of image and text elements to make a list of products that are coming soon. When a product is ready you could simply remove the content for that product, then add an actual product in the store for it and re-publish.

Hey guys love the website, just a few suggestions. Could you guys PLEASE have the digital downloads in a lowers plan like the starter, or pro plan. I simply can not afford the business plan and it would be such a great help. Also when the coupon codes come in what plan is it going to be offered in?

I've got to say, I'm happy Weebly have added this new more complete e-commerce set-up to their package, but it's quite buggy at present which isn't good enough for the price they are charging.

For that quite high monthly fee, we should have a fully rounded, option filled, fully customizable e-commerce package. Maybe they should have started off with a $5 a month flat rate fee until everything is as it should be.

I mean you can't even use discount codes for customers yet. At the price Weebly are charging, that's pretty poor service to be honest.

Our website is for a non-profit and when I compare the small amount of sales we do the pricing structure doesn't compare to what we get from Square. I'd switch pretty quick if you matched Square's pricing, or helped out non-profits with an even better pricing structure.

I've been reading some of the comments on here and can't believe that many of you want an e-commerce site for practically nothing. Factor in the cost of your site with your overhead and charge accordingly for your product. It's called a cost of doing business.

I'm sure none of you operate a web site company like Weebly or you wouldn't be complaining so much and you would have your site for free. Do you even know what it takes to run a company of this size?
Stop whining about price and trying to get everything for free.

1 Most of us were rolling along at a price cap based on what it cost for "Pro" with zero indication there was going to be a radical price increase 500% per month.

2. With the Pro cost paid in advance, we were told that they were going to come up with a solution to Google Checkout - which, by the way, was not costing us at all. And, so, I, assumed, when they came back, in writing, and said they were coming up with a solution - no where in my minds eye did I think for one minute it was going to come a a cost of over 500% of what we were paying prior. And there was certainly no heads up from Weebly that that would be the case as long as we had signed up for Pro when they promised us, if we did, we would be grandfathered in against further price increase.

3. That is not what happened. We were slapped, one morning, with a $30 a month "bill" if we wanted to have access to the Shopping Cart. Unfortunately, some of us never had gone to using the "Cart" and were quite happy with the individual Google Checkout buttons and, honestly, just wanted the "replacement as promised" for those buttons.

4. I believe, Dave, you have to view exactly what "everyone" is complaining about. Its not as simple as you have swiped the broad brush.

5. Weebly is still a great package - they have changed their business direction and it is not focused on the "small" website anymore. It is now out there in mid stream with the bigger players.

The change over to this new business direction was not handled as smoothly as it could have been and there is nothing wrong with where they are headed. The issue is that those who backed them, with their hard earned Pro dollars, were not told, up front - they were probably not going to be a part of the new direction. It was not handled well at all.

The smaller website owners can continue to function well on Weebly - they just will not have access to all the new toys that were developed (that cost a lot to develop) and, more importantly, are costing a lot to maintain. The small website owners can still embed their own payment buttons, work around shipping solutions, and still, surprisingly, will have access to Tech Support which, for me, has been top notch.

With all my inventory in the old simple system, I am not going to change over to the new cart - I do not have time. And, honestly, my site will thrive just fine the way it is at the minimal Pro cost.

I believe all the furor will settle down when everyone figures out where their cost margin is and "what they can afford" and "what they can not afford" and, more importantly, the knowledge, for some, that they were "left out". That is what hurt the most - feelings got very hurt given so many had paid up that Pro cost with hard earned dollars from very limited funds to find "they were not invited to the ball".

Weebly still is the best deal around - I still recommend it. I am just careful about what I am promising with that referral. I wish Weebly had been just as "careful" and more contrite when explaining what the new release truly meant for so many "smaller" users.

PLEASE take the price restrictions off. I have a couple of premium domain names I'd like to offer for no less than $100,000.

I'd like to be able to promote them through a Weebly store, as well as some other high-ticket products.

What is the best way to get cart suggestions to weebly? I would like various options to pay on the cart e.g. paypal, credit card, cheque, bank transfer, cash etc but at the moment you can only off three and they are mutually exclusive!???

Hi Mike! You do need to choose one of the three choices for each individual site in your account. All three allow customers to purchase with credit cards, although PayPal also allows customers to pay with their PayPal accounts that customers can fund via other sources (bank deposit, etc). Adam - thanks but I understand all this. I have two questions to ask:

a. How do we as site owners feedback our wish lists to Weebly?
b. Having just one option e.g. paypal on the checkout is not adequate. You need to offer the customer choice which also includes all payment methods e.g. cheque or bank transfer. So this would be number one on my wish list! I have many more, hence question a.!

Like many, I STRONGLY dislike the new site.

As a small business owner this has really set me back.

I can't figure out how to add an "add to cart" button, I FINALLY figured out how to change the font color (totally stupid way to do it - I mean seriously, who would know?)

NO clue how to add pictures. Can't change prices.

I have been sitting for 2 hours and am ready to rip my hair out! I have NO clue how to make the changes that I desperately need to make for Christmas shoppers.

Weebly, I am HUGELY disappointed and immensely frustrated.

Hi Carolyn! I'm sorry for the frustration you've had! To use a Cart with your site (as well as have your buttons say "Add to Cart"), go to Store > Settings > General and change the store mode to "Add to Cart".

As for managing the products themselves so you can add pictures, go to Store > Products and select the product you want to add pictures to there. You can also update the price as well as the description, options, and more.

If you haven't already I'd also recommend that you take a look at the new guides we added here: http://help.weebly.com/ecommerce.html

Those should help provide more clarification on how to work with products and more with our new features.
