Photo Slideshows Now Available!

We're proud to release one of our most requested features - photo slideshows! Now it's incredibly easy to display photos on your website or blog in a beautiful, professional slideshow format.

The new slideshow element (available under the "Multimedia" category of elements) allows bulk uploading of photos, automatic resizing, transition effects, captions, and many different display styles.

I agree with Marco great presentaion but if we could link each image, that would be great!!
Still great work weebly, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to do this with javascript, though i did find some widget that did a similar thing to this but nowhere near as professional!

This is looking very nice.
And I'm very pleased to see that Weebly is continuously trying to improve tis features.

If I may dare a constructive comment: I'm already using quite a few slide shows for my pictures, using the previous format of "Photo Gallery". My website is a photos portfolio and I think visitors are usually quite happy to see all the pictures as thumbnails and be able to choose which one to see bigger, still keeping the possibility of starting a slideshow when you open any picture.
I can imagine one of the improvement is the speed at which photos change ? Is that right ?
Also 2 constructive requests:
- can you add the possibility of putting a white thick frame around the pictures (like in photo galleries display) ?
- can you add the possibility of putting a hyperlink on each picture, so that it links to another page of the website ?

Just to say a year ago i was a stay-at- home mum not knowing what I was going to do when I went back to work - then I discovered Weebly. Great new feature. I have been using Slideroll and Widgetbox to put slideshows on my site for more than a year now. This slideshow feature looks very smooth and professional.

Three options that I would like to see: 1)Ability to hyperlink each slide, 2)ability to add borders to each slide, 3)ability to adjust the size of the player.

wow, love the new slideshows. would like to see ability to link images to a URL for click-through but it's pretty sweet and much needed.

I was going to add some suggestions to the Suggestions page but it looks like that's just a pile of spam these days (along with too many responses on the blog) so ... here goes....

- Integration of Disqus or other comment management system for the blog (easier to manage spam - which seems to be a huge issue - and allow users to subscribe to responses etc)
- Improved forum solution that shares a membership system with the site/blog commenting and allows me to promote a forum member to a blog contributor (and integrating with page security so I can have groups of people with different access)
- blogging support from Windows Live Writer for off-line composition of new posts
- Options to use Bing Maps / Search etc rather than Google
- Reseller option (rather than just Affiliate). Looking at LightCMS and others they have an option to white-label and on-sell (setting your own prices and either billing directly or having the host manage billing) and for clients who want more than to be pointed to setup this seems like a great option... rather than having to invoice seperately for managing DNS, Email setup etc there's a single on-going fee that I can set up to cover everything (and encourages me to keep them on your platform!)

piggybacking on previous:

- Can we be able to use this function for the header images?

- Can we be able to rotate text in the header image?

- It already collects email addresses. Can we get a reply button and if someone replies to the comment, they get an email response?

- I like the idea of a slideshow that links to other pages. I could redo my manuscripts page for that. :grins:

- Can we be able to add a background image or pattern or border to paragraph or column elements? Not sure what would be easiest, but any would help.

- Can we be able have a header image like creator for other images (in specified sizes if that would make it easier)? So like an editable image element in addition to the regular just add image.

Thanks for everything! I love weebly more and more.

And really, can we get an ongoing features added list? That way, when my backend says you've upgraded I know what with.

- Click on image to popup the image show as you already have
- Add a new component like you have with image and text and so there could be the thumbnails below the large image and text.

Right now I have two Pro accounts. And I assign my photography and multimedia students to create Weebly sites.

Please make it load so fast, it takes a few minutes before the show loads, even tried to ask a friend with a different internet connection to check if it's the same on her side. 5 minutes! with that time span you'd have lost the visitor by then and lost a possible buyer.

Been waiting for that! Yes, Weebly is amazing, and those slide shows look GOOOOOOOOD!
Now to the next step: ADD SOCIAL NETWORKING - I would not mind paying extra for that in addition to Pro - get it all under one umbrella, since right now, I am juggling and integrating a Ning Network with Weebly, but if weebly gets into social networking, I drop Ning in a heartbeat!

There is so much white space around smaller images. Mine are like banner size, it would be better if the slides would conform closely to the image size.

It's a great feature, though I don't like how it automatically gets a size.

For example, if you upload 728x90 banners, it will take up A LOT of space on the website, pushing everything else away.

So at the moment it only works with square pictures.

Very nice. But still, I would like to post bigger than 800 pixels large/tall pictures on my blog. 1000 pixels limit (or an around 350K max weight) would be far more practical for those of us who try to show pictures.

I second (or however many requests you are up to) the request for hyperlinking for each pic and hiding the 'play/pause button'... It'd then be a viable alternative to cranking out flash.

but I do like where you're going with this... eventually it'd be nice to see a few more transition options and the option to fade in/across text during each pic being 'played'.

In the meantime, this is a valuable addition to an already stellar feature set and an unbelievable value.

So here's the funny thing. I didn't know about the slide show thing. I needed to update my site and thought to myself -- I wish weebly had a slide show because I absolutely HATE the Flickr feature, to me it sucks. Anyway so I logged in a right in front of my face there it was. I was elated because I was able to quit searching all over google for a simple slide show I could use to embed on my site without any brands on it.
Anyway, I always recommend weebly to people that say they want a website. Most people just need something simple and weebly is absolutely the BEST FREE service around -- HANDS DOWN.

Slideshow is great, I have had to create videos in lightroom until now to create the slideshow feel, yet still not quite getting it.

A few mods needed for photographers though:
1-Ability to add a border to the pics in black or white in a few different sizes

2-Ability to change the background color, i.e. choose black, white, grey, etc. Or to have the option to upload a picture as the background would be great as well.

3-Ability to disable right-click save function (site wide or specific to the slideshow/photo options

4-Ability to add mp3 files to play with the slideshow

5-Ability to create unique passwords to access each slideshow, or individual pages, whatever is easier, rather than a site-wide password. Right now I have a general password and keep individual client pages hidden, but it is a pain for them to have to type in the page address if they don't have the link handy.

6-Ability to add a "selection box" so clients select a group of photos that they would like printed

7-Option to add a custom drop down box in caption area in addition to selection box, so they can customize print order, by selecting the photo, and choosing the print page layout.

8-Increase max size option, disable crop to fit and display at original size or dimensions. Also allow bulk uploads, mine will error out if I try to load more than 5 photos at a time, so for now I have to stick with videos as uploading client proofs would take weeks :) I will keep trying though to see if that has improved.

9-Add individual photo file options where it will appear as a small thumbnail that they can click to enlarge, similar to the photo gallery but with single picture files. I try using the photo gallery for single pictures but the formatting is off center and just looks funny.

10-When creating forms, add an option in the main form box to save template to save the settings and wording of the form add-ins, i.e. drop down menus, etc. I am using a custom form at the moment for print orders that are prepaid since the revenue boxes so not allow customizations i.e. adding drop down boxes to select size/finish, etc. If you could tweak the revenue options to include all the form add-ins that would be perfect.

11-Allow (FTP)file transfer protocol from software i.e. Adobe Lightroom which would reduce upload/photo change time for bulk photos.

The slideshow is a great start in making it more user friendly for photographers though. Thanks!

Ok this is a suggestion...I run a mutli features website but would love it if we could get a followers widget for our blogs...i have had a couple of contests on my site and would love it if I could see who is following my blog....THANKS :) weebly rocks....woohoo.

hello. something went wrong at my site..

I could not upload any pictures using basic file uploader, photo gallery and your latest application "Photo Slideshow".

I do not know why it happens but when I tried to upload dialog box will appeared with a message of "There was an error uploading your file (error -220).
Would you like to try again using our basic file uploader?".

Please help me about this..

It's a great idea, but I'm having problems. People cannot see all of the images. Also when I try to edit the captions I can't scroll down to get to the lower images in the slideshow. Quite frustrating, I think I'll have to stick to the photo album for now.

I love that you created this feature. I believe it will add a lot to peoples; website. Only one criticism, that you may work is is to create a link button. i would be nice to have people use the pictures in the slide show to link around our sites. Thank you for your developments.

I love the new slide feature & am using it to upload phos of ancestors so grandchildren can view. My show, however, is hung up & the tool bar won't appear. What happened? Is there a max MB limit on shows???
