Business Networking in Atlanta
Top Events and Groups of 2017
Small business owners and entrepreneurs are always looking for the next step to success. In a bustling business community like Atlanta, finding a great networking group (or two!) is essential to promoting your company, as well as learning new insights from your neighbors.
In addition to finding partners, investors, or just great friends, networking is a great way to jumpstart a new business or bounce ideas off of old pros. However, the sheer volume of networking groups and events in Atlanta can be hard to navigate, and even harder to make time to try a handful out. If you’re looking for somewhere to begin, we’ve got a list of some of the top groups in Atlanta to get started with. 1. The National Association of Independent Businesses: Georgia The NAIB chapter in Georgia has the power of a national organization with the grassroots feel of a local group. In Atlanta, this group is particularly effective for small business owners looking to build customers and contacts in the city. As a member, you have access to the national group offerings, like monthly webinars and trainings, as well as the local chapter’s frequent meetups and social events.
2. The Atlanta Business League The ABL is an affiliate of the National Business League and one of Atlanta’s oldest organizations for business owners of color. They hold many high-profile events throughout the year, and boast an extensive nationwide network that members have access to for connection and collaboration. They also partner with cities across the country to hold training programs and mentorship opportunities.
3. The National Association of Women Business Owners: Atlanta The NAWBO goes back as far as 1975, so you know you’re joining a strong and professional group! It’s a great place if you’re a female small business owner looking for like-minded peers in your field. They hold regular roundtables, informational seminars, and one-on-one mentoring sessions to help you overcome hurdles and solve problems. They also hold regular social events that vary, so business owners of every network and industry can have a chance to attend and participate.
4. Buckhead Business Association If you’re looking for an active networking group where you can dive right in, the BBA is one for you! They host weekly breakfast meetups with a huge variety of business owners and industry leaders, in addition to their monthly information sessions and social events.
5. The Atlanta Professionals Business and Social Networking Group If you’re looking to build your network but you don’t know where to start, the APBSNG is a perfect jumping-off point. With over 1,500 members, you never run out of new people to talk to! They also offer a variety of networking events from fun to professional--networking expos, business workshops, and happy hours are held frequently around the city.
6. Network Under 40 - Atlanta Chapter Network Under 40 is a group that encourages fun and relaxation - perfect for anyone new (or a little nervous!) to the networking scene. Their goal is to create relationships in a laid-back atmosphere by encouraging discourse in social settings and eschewing the typical team-building or uncomfortable business-like feeling of typical networking events. They hold events throughout the month in Atlanta that are open for members to come and go.
Networking is a key piece of the business puzzle, especially if you’re a new business owner or in a new city. In addition to learning from established peers, you can find new customers or even employees with Atlanta’s best networking groups--and you get to have fun doing it! |
