Weebly Release Notes: New Features and Apps from February

3/1/2016

We're constantly working on updates big and small in an effort to provide you with the best tools for growing your website, blog or business. We understand that sometimes it can be hard to keep up with all these additions, so here's a quick summary of the new features and apps released last month.

Weebly Promote - Our new email marketing service that helps you grow your business through email campaigns integrated directly with your Weebly site.
Custom Text - Makes it easy for customers enter a custom message for individual products so you can sell personalized items.
Services Product Type - Tailor your store to a service offering instead of physical or digital products.
iOS 4.1.0 - Updates for the Weebly app on iPhone and iPad featuring contributor support for stats and form entries, improvements to make the app easier to use, as well as stability and performance enhancements.
Android 4.1.3 - Updates for the Weebly app on Android phones and tablets, including stability and speed improvements along with contributor support for blog comments.

There was also a whole new class of apps released on the App Center in February:

Super Titles - Improve SEO on your site with h1 to h6 tags.
Reviews - Display Yelp reviews on your website (Google and TripAdvisor coming soon).
Comments - Let your visitors ask questions, give feedback and discuss topics in real time right from your site.
TubePress - Create video galleries for your website.
Social Reviews - Collect reviews from Facebook, Yelp, G+ and Twitter.
Segmently - Build marketing campaigns that target your visitors by location, behavior and more.
Completion Bar - A simple completion percentage bar for your site.
Fb Customer Care - Customer service via Facebook.
CallUs.io - Get customers calls from your website.
Tidio Chat - Live chat for eCommerce sites.
Inventory Manager - One click export and import of eCommerce inventory.
Product Scheduler - Schedule the publish or unpublish of products from your store

Ahh, the designer platform - Can't wait to see the Carbon release on there! I've been annoying the support team regularly to find out when it's coming... hopefully soon....

I WANT CASH ON DELIVERY OPTION URGENTLY. PAYPAL IS NOT ACCEPTED IN MY COUNTRY, AND I ALSO PREFER THE COD WAY BECAUSE WE SELL PHYSICAL GOODS, AND CUSTOMERS ALSO PREFER TO HAVE THEIR GOODS THAT WAY. PLEASE WEEBLY ADD IT. I ALREADY LOST 2 CUSTOMERS WHO WANTED TO PLACE AN ORDER, BUT ENDED UP PLACING THE ORDER BY CALL.

We would love to utilize the STORE on our site but like you, we have physical goods that we have to create upon their order. Our customers generally pay cash on delivery. That option would be an incredible addition Weebly!

Really impressed with the range of additional features :-) If possible, I'd also like one which allows a text box containing a number of quotes, for example, to be rotated in real time, so visitors have a more active experience of the site. Hope I've explained myself!

Great Communication! I too am eagerly awaiting these features released on the Designer Platform!!!

I feel like my hands are tied with my current clients and could sell a lot more websites if I could offer these features through the designer platform.

I would really welcome buy button / embed feature for store products so that you can sell products from a Weebly store on other sites or emails

Plus the ability to create an order from the store back end for customers buying over the phone

I have several paintings that i post on my website. i would love to be able to click on a photo of one, have it open another page with all of the products available to purchase with that painting image. I know it can be done currently, but not easily. A little more user friendly would be great.

Can you make it so that different options for a product can cost different amounts? Say, add $2 for a special color or size.

Is there something in particular you're looking for in a theme that isn't currently offered?

yea. I can't really put it in words but I would love a theme/layout where the content area is fixed height that turns into a scrollbox it the text, photo, etc goes over the fixed height.

Weebly used to have a few that had what I'm looking for but had a banner/photo on the left side.

But if you guys can do layouts like your old ones, but update them and remove the left banner/photo from the area, I would so love to know.

It looks like you've customized your theme- can you switch to a standard theme and re-publish to see if that helps?

Yes definitely more options for blogs. Specifically add normal blocks (eg embed code) in the side bar or to top and tail the main posts column. (even better in between posts!)

We trying to come up with new features for our themes but Weebly is still limiting developers a lot. There are partials but no custom fields in them. There's an option to add custom setting in THEME tab but they might not work because they in the beta version still.

Weebly simply needs time to gather more dev community around their new apps market and they need to luch Themes Market, It's practically a standard now days.

And speaking of new...I just got a very detailed email from Paypal about Merchant Security Upgrades. Please post about that-it looks sort of scary since I understand few of the terms they mention but it says my site is going to need to change 2 things in order to continue to receive Paypal payments, SSL Certificate Upgrade to SHA-256 and TLS 1.2 and HTTP/1.1 Upgrade.

I really liked it when you had a suggestion space on the page I went to edit my page. Keep up the good work. one MORE thing I'd like to see is a way to go back a couple of minutes to an older version of the blog posts. I somehow messed up my slide show and cant add any more pictures, It would have helped if I could click on an older version like I can with my word press website. I'm not asking for support, just a suggestion for future additions to wonderful weebly.

When I get on to edit my site, It says its updating, but is stuck on that window. This upsets me because I can't edit my site now. But you are a great website hosting site! Keep it up!

If you're still seeing the popup, try hitting the ESC key to dismiss the "updating" window.

With a walk in and online store using one inventory, keeping track of said inventory is difficult. The Inventory Manager App is helpful, but the ability to integrate POS would help enormously.
