Weebly Release Notes: New Features and Apps from January

Is it already February? January flew by as we hit the ground running in 2017. Here are the main features we have to show for it.

New Image Editor - Fast and rich with new tools, the new image editor helps you bring high-quality images to life on your site. New features include cropping, filters, focus, undo button and much more. This is completely free and available with all plans.
Square Australia - Australia site owners can now use Square to connect their digital storefront with physical payment processing, enabling users to manage all sales from one place
SSL for Membership - Added security layer for membership websites with all membership activity automatically protected with SSL certificates.
IDX Integration - Realtors can now use the Realtyna IDX App to display MLS listing directly on their websites.
Optimized Delivery Times - New Weebly Promote feature that uses recipient location and email interaction history to pick the best time to deliver your emails. Free with all Promote plans.
Email Coupons - We’ve added the coupon element to Weebly Promote. Any coupon created from the Store tab can now be placed in your mails.
Promote Contributor Access - Your site contributors can now gain access to Weebly Promote and edit emails, contacts and more.
Share and subscribe bar - Activate a share and subscribe bar which will appear on emails in Weebly Promote when viewed in browser by customers.
Automated Email Series - Turns automated emails into a series of connected emails based on a website trigger. Currently built for new contacts and new customers.
Social and Logo Email Defaults - Set default logo and social media profiles in Weebly Promote and they will be applied to all future emails.

New Apps release in January include tools for social selling, web design and shipping.

Patreon - Get paid every month by your biggest fans, perfect for musicians, artists and writers! - Free.
Column Lock - Force columns to remain displayed in columns instead of blocks on smaller screens - Free.
Crowdlever - Boost conversion rates with social proof, show orders in real time and create a sense of urgency for visitors - Free to $149/month.
Outfy - Automatically promote your products on 10+ social networks - $10 to $20+.
Shippypro - Shipping platform with bulk label creation and printing, the ability to sync with multiple carriers, sale analysis and more - Free to +$19/month
Facebook Audience - Create targeted ads to grow business through Facebook - $9 to $49/month
Waddons Pack - Discounted bundle of 16 top apps including Animator, Chameleon Slider, Sectionizer and more - $55
Appreplica - Embed live content on your website from social media and portfolio sites - Free.

While I appreciate and commend Weebly for these enhancements, I'm becoming increasingly concerned about the increasing "gaps" between what is available for normal Weebly websites and those created under the Designer portion of your service. I've seen a number of company comments over the last year or so suggesting that "big things" are coming to the designer platform, but those of us using it are still waiting. What should we expect? The designer platform is a wonderful part of the bigger Weebly service, but if the commitment is dwindling, I may need to re-evaluate.

I agree John, I have been asking about this over the past couple of years as well.

Hope they come out with something soon. Something tells me whatever they are working on is not ready yet. I hope that is the reason and not because they are ditching the Design platform?

Danny, I have a feeling u may be right about Weebly eventually scrapping their designer platform. Besides the 'empty promises' about 'big things coming' to the designer platform (which never seem to get here), nobody from Weebly support has even chirped in to reply to John, who says he is re-evaluating his decision to be a designer platform customer.

Great to see Weebly consistently getting better, If that is possible as it is perfect for building attractive, professional websites with ease. I built my first website with Weebly 4 years ago and I have mastered the would Weebly experience, the service and price is unbeatable.

I would like to add that if Weebly make a comment section App that would be very useful.

Will you expand on why Weebly is perfect for building attractive, professional websites with ease? I'm in search of a site and not sure which to go with to build. There are so many different ones and they all say they're good. I'd like to hear from a real user. I'm in school and need to make a website for a school portfolio so I don't have much time so this has to be easy also.

I started out using somewhere between 2009 and 2012 I think. Then I found Weebly and loved everything about it. To me it was more user friendly. Fast forward to today. I still love Weebly but when I receive bi-weekly updates from Wix on the new things they are offering. I'm starting to become a bit unsatisfied. Simply because it seems Weebly has now been left behind.

So, I have to ask are you guys not paying attention to your competitors? Right now it just feels to me that the best thing about Weebly for me right now is the Customer Service (Shout out to Kris and Bianca). Common Weebly, step your game up 2 notches because I want to remain loyal. Make it easy to do so. Thank you.

Uzo, I'm just curious what it is your looking at in Wix that you think is great that Weebly doesn't have? I'm not a long-time user on Weebly and have only done a little bit with it for school but now I find I have to get more involved and I'm just wondering what it is you love about Weebly and if it's worth staying over moving to Wix.

I am weebly more then 4 years, I do not understand why weebly does not allowed customer to add SSL from https://letsencrypt.org/ which is free for all, I am pro, while other builder like Zoho site have this option to ssl from https://letsencrypt.org/getting-starte.

I request weebly please add ssl option from https://letsencrypt.org/getting-starte for all weebly members

This is all very well, but I still have a number of major problems that are not being addressed.
1. You still don't have a facility to create no-follow links, which Google requires for any content that is sponsored. This is a major oversight.
2. Second, I still can't give my blog page a separate heading/logo from the rest of my website unless (I've been told) I use one of the new Designer themes. But I can only see a few available Designer themes and they are most unattractive so I prefer my existing one.
3. I have a Pro account but I still can't have a free SSL certificate without upgrading further. Many other platforms are providing to all their clients for free.

Wouldn't it be nice to fix and improve some of the existing tools instead of introducing a whole bunch of new stuff most of us won't use.

How about:
-Improving the ugly rss feed, so that we can have new styles.
-Make it so color in the lines and text in forms (such as contact and subscribe forms) The only option is black which means they can only be placed on light backgrounds.
-Improving the divider so it can be made thicker and the option to change its color.
-Image blocks (Similar to color blocks)
-Fix issue with images when copying pages. (This problem has be persistent since at least June 2016, no fix yet.)

Would be great to keep on top of these issues and then introduce new stuff.

My suggestion for membership is for content and association websites. Having a controllable time limitation to an individual login for a year for example would be extremely helpful in keeping track of association dues. The ability to charge a fee for a one year individual login on the site would also be helpful to small associations.

What is taking so long to provide all users with an undo button. I hate having to re-enter items that have changed and I would like to prevent my having to re-create my website every time I made a mistake. LETS GET THE UNDO BUTTON NOW!
